I am visiting family from out of town and tried this today for lunch based on the Yelp ratings and reviews. Although the fried rice is frequently mentioned in reviews, I opted for the cashew chicken and vegetables meal which also includes fried rice and an egg roll. The dining room is closed due to COVID, so I got my order to go.
The portions were reasonable, with a bias towards the fried rice. I didn't specify which route of fried rice that I wanted and it was with pork. The egg roll was crispy, had good taste, and seemed fresh. I'd rate the fried rice as fair. It has very little to it, other than a little bit of pork. Typically, the fried rice from the restaurants I enjoy also has vegetables, onions, and egg and I didn't really get any of this with my serving. The cashew chicken and vegetables was decent enough. All of the ingredients were certainly fresh but I was a bit disappointed in the seasoning as it was rather bland in comparison again to what I typically experience. The lady who took my order was very pleasant.
I didn't have a broad enough experience to rate them strongly one way or the other so, based on how fresh the ingredients were, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt in my review this time with the intent of updating with...
Read moreI ordered General Tso's, Crab Rangoons, fried rice and a few other smaller items like egg rolls and such. The fried rice was the only thing half way decent. The General Tso's should had been named General Old! Plus it was more of a BBQ chicken instead of traditional Tso's. Chicken was dry, hard and chewy. Many pieces couldn't even be eaten they was so hard and the couple of broccoli pieces were like rubber, literally rubber. The Crab Rangoons was the biggest joke I've ever seen! And I LOOOOVE Crab Rangoons! If you were lucky it might have a 1/4 teaspoon of sweetened cream cheese. Absolutely NO crab flecks seen. The entire Rangoons was mostly just hard fried pastry. It was so fried that the entire thing was very dark brown, not golden like it should be. This was my first ever experience with CJ Chan and it for sure will be my last! $40 wasted! I went to the one on Wilmington Pike. I've never had Chinese food this...
Read moreWhen we walked in it appeared liking walking into the calm after a storm. We sat at an open table which seemed to have been used by the large party unbeknownst to the staff.
The waiter came promptly with menus and took our drink order. The initial interaction with the waiter should have alerted me about possible communication issues.
Another came and took our order. We made sure to point at our choices. I ordered the beef teriyaki appetizer, and chicken fried rice and a vegetable spring roll. My friens ordered a salmon sushi roll. The items csme out separately and I never received my rol. However, the food was delicious and portions were good. It did not matter that my roll never came.
Its amazing how much business they produce out of this tiny place. The had Doordash, walkin takeout, order outside. It was non stop. ...
