I read about this place in the local paper and was very excited to try it out. I’m always down with a promising hot dog joint. We were greeted very pleasantly upon entering and we placed our order at the counter and were told that when the food and drinks were ready we’d have to come back and retrieve it - no problem. Then they do the inexplicable new thing all counter service places do and hit you up for a tip in advance to which I declined. After 10 minutes or so, our buzzer goes off and we go in to retrieve the food. The order is sitting there unattended and very much incomplete. After a minute or two, the owner/cook (recognized by his picture in the article) came over and we told him the order was incomplete to which he snapped rudely that he only makes what’s on the ticket. I pointed out the item on his ticket that clearly showed our missing item, albeit incorrectly rang in. Acting very sarcastically like he’s “trying to make it right” he slops some mush of peppers on a hot dog and thinks he’s done and tries to send us on our way like he wants us very badly to leave him alone. But he didn’t give us the drinks we ordered. So dude starts yelling at his cashier that she needs to start giving customers their drinks from now on and he doesn’t want to deal with it. He rudely did this in front of several customers. Ok, whatevs, I think. Needless to say, the Junk Yard Dog with the glob of mushy peppers was horrible. The hot dog itself was unremarkable from any grocery brand and the glob of mushy peppers that was supposed to be chili, cheese, mushrooms and peppers was straight up gross and bland. Junk yard indeed. Another item we ordered was the Bay Street Burger. Another very unremarkable item. No seasoning. No flavor. No love. However, the steak fries and onion petals were tasty thank goodness so it was not a total loss. And lastly, the Asian slaw was bitter and unforgettable in all the wrong ways. An abomination. When your restaurant is incompetent from the point of sale, to the retrieval of product, to the consumption of the product itself, it fails at all levels and you lose my business. Not a great experience and I will not return.
