If they were actual help from the city and Not the illusion of help they might be a lot less homeless people around Daytona Beach. I met some of them in person, some are yes drug addicts and drunks and they ruin it for people who are in a bad situation trying to get out. They're are a lot of vets. That are homeless and handicap people that are homeless, people that got sick from COVID and lost everything because they couldn't work. And the first step shelter is a joke, I helped someone get to that shelter and I watched them put her outside on a cot with No food and No shower for the weekend and she was 55 years old a mother of 4 kids, and had 2 knee replacement surgery the previous year. That's just one of many examples. The police don't help much either, they keep the junkies but push around the sober homeless people . I don't know, maybe I'm missing something 🤔 even The Churches out of all people turn there backs on the poor, what is going on with people today. I seen a 13 year old girl go to a nearby store and brought a homeless vet. A blanket,a pillow, and lunch and sat down with him and shared a meal with him. That blew my mind, shame on you Daytona. I recently heard that the police arrested a group of homeless people earlier in the morning before the restroom opened up,wow. I...
Read moreI had such a great experience visiting City Island in Daytona. It's truly one of the hidden gems in the area, especially if you're looking for a relaxing day by the water. I went paddle boarding and had an amazing time — the water was calm and the scenery around the island is beautiful. It’s a perfect spot for beginners or anyone just looking to enjoy a peaceful time on the water.
One of the best parts about City Island is how convenient and accessible it is. Free parking was a huge plus — no need to worry about meters or parking fees. The park itself is clean and well-kept, with plenty of shaded areas and benches to relax. There are public restrooms close by, which were also clean and easy to access.
What really makes this spot stand out is how close it is to everything. After paddle boarding, I was able to walk to several great restaurants nearby. Whether you want a quick bite or a sit-down meal, there are plenty of options just minutes away.
City Island feels peaceful and tucked away, even though it's right in the heart of Daytona. It's the perfect combination of nature and convenience. Whether you're paddle boarding, walking, picnicking, or just looking for a quiet spot to unwind, I highly recommend checking it out. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreThe boardwalk is the only reason to visit here. It's fun with the weekend concerts and fireworks in the summer. The magicians and entertainment found on boardwalk are pretty neat as well. 2 arcades, although very dated, are fun and the kids still love them. Typical tourist shops. Prices are typical for any tourist shop in Daytona. Better prices at the flea market tho. The beach is what brings the ratings down. It's the hub of all the homeless. Always smells like pee in my opinion. I take my kids down to Ormond or Ponce for swimming. Not to the Ponce jetty tho, that's where the...
