Steve’s Grill — Restaurant in De Motte

To start with and to be fair, I want to say I've been coming to this restaurant for years and have always been very happy with the food. I love the fried mushrooms! The waitresses have always been fantastic. Unfortunately my last 3 visits weren't so great. Given the years of great food and service I am hoping I have just been unlucky and caught them at a bad time. Today's visit my girlfriend ordered taco salad with no onion or green peppers. Hers came with peppers on it. The waitress admitted it was her fault that she forgot to tell them. I know she is also very new. Not a big deal. They took it back and made it correctly. I had the bacon club. The bacon was thick cut and very good. But the sandwich seemed thrown together quickly. Sort of a sloppy job. The fries were excellent. The visit before this I ordered chopped steak. Which is basically a giant hamburger with no bun. It tasted good but was not cooked in the center. (It is very thick). It isn't like a steak which is fine to be medium. Hamburger is supposed to be done all the way through. The time before this I ordered a ribeye steak dinner. I try not to be overly negative but it was horrible. The steak was over done and it had more fat and gristle than meat. It was not a good cut of meat at all. It came with mashed potatoes which tasted instant. I don't mind instant potatoes and eat them at home. But when I am laying for an expensive steak dinner I don't expect that. It came with green beans that were very good. I do want to again stress my past experiences have been very good here. I am going to go back once more. We already knew what we wanted to order before we got there because we had a take out menu at home. Both of us knew we wanted the breaded pork tenderloin because the picture on the menu made it look huge. (We almost only ordered one because it looked like it could feed two.) Good thing we didn't because it was about half the size that was advertised. It came with soup or salad and fries so I got chicken tortilla soup and my partner got a salad and we both ordered water. Our waitress was very nice and delivered the soup and salad but forgot our water. The soup was good but could have used more tortillas and the salad was the usual fare. When the waitress picked up our dishes I asked her for our water and she admitted that she forgot them. She brought them right away. The tenderloins on the other hand took over a half hour to arrive at our table. The fries were hot and well cooked but like I said we were disappointed in the size of the tenderloins. I thought it was a bit dry but tasty. I added ketchup and that helped a lot. This is not a terrible place, we were just a little disappointed. We will more than...

The staff was snappy. They ran out of potatoes. The cocktail sauce was jelled and old, that made me worry about my chunky bland gravy that looked nothing like the picture in the menu. Our drinks didn’t get filled until we asked. None of that even compares to what happened before our food came out. She came out with a wrap and set it on the table calling it a gyro plate. She then goes looking for our other food. Meanwhile my husband takes a pickle off the plate and munches on it waiting to have it fixed. She realizes it was for another table, drops the S bomb like there is a one way mirror between her and our table, she quickly came and snatched the plate off our table then as we all look on in horror SHE SENDS THE EATEN OFF PLATE OF FOOD TO A TABLE WITH AN ELDERLY COUPLE WITH ANOTHER SERVER!
