edit: appreciate the attempt to rectify things after the review. however this should have been handled immediately in the store proactively and would have been a non issue. the review is not about getting a refund, if these things were communicated clearer or addressed live it would be fine but there was no attempt to fix clear issues which is why I was disappointed and wrote this. this is an important part of building and maintaining a customer base - no customer leaves unhappy, especially after saying we used to come as kids and loved it there. we raised all of this directly to you to give that opportunity to fix things. I hope the feedback is helpful. this is a wonderful place with a long history in the community. im sure this was a one time issue

moved away and came back here for the nostalgia. unfortunately it was underwhelming

rice was extremely salty and left most of it. meat shawarma was refried from earlier in day, not hung and cut fresh (I asked about this beforehand and feel I was misled). beef kabob was good

they asked if we wanted garlic w our dinner and I assumed it came with the meals but it ended up being an $8 upcharge for a small plate of thom. I have never seen even the fanciest arabic restaurants charge $8 for thom with a dinner plate..

for these prices I expect much higher quality and ambiance

service was great but she did not offer a fix for the issues. we are usually very chill about food but spoke up to offer advice since there is so much good competition in dearborn. would have been easy to cut the small garlic plate price, offer a discount due to bad rice (sounds like cook was learning / "working on it"), or address the misunderstanding about shawarma being freshly sliced. however nothing was changed and we paid the full bill

with all the Dearborn options we arent able to try again. it might have just been an off day. I have friends that still like it here....

After a long day of travel, I discovered Al-Shallal thanks to its stellar reviews and couldn't wait to try their highly recommended cuisine. The generous portions of flavorful, authentic Middle Eastern dishes like shawarma and rice pudding were exactly the soulful, satisfying meal I needed at an amazingly affordable price.

Since they only offer takeout, I ended up savoring every delicious bite right in the back seat of my rental minivan. The irresistibly aromatic food was well worth the unconventional dining experience and provided some much needed refreshment and comfort for this weary traveler on a multi-city journey.

If you're looking for delicious, homestyle Middle Eastern cooking that will leave you full and content without breaking the bank, Al-Shallal is the place to go, even if you have to enjoy it on the go. This hidden gem in Dearborn is perfect for anyone seeking a tasty, fulfilling meal, especially road warriors who need a quick but Quality pick-me-up between destinations. I'm so glad I found this place and can't recommend it...

Al Shallal is hands down the best in town. From the delicious, tender Boneless Chicken Breast Dinner, to the flavorful rice...The fresh and tasty Fattoush salad with the crisp greens, and just the right amount of dressing...and Hummous made while we were there. I still can't get enough of the Fried Kibbi done perfectly...crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and full of flavor...the BEST Yemeni soup I have ever tasted in my life...every drop was delicious..my Wife and I loved it...and the Chicken Lemon Rice soup..delectable..last but not least the grand finale..Baklava...perfect...Mike, You and Your Family knock it out of the park time and time again...You always make us feel like Family when we come there. It just keeps getting better and better...we Love You guys and will see you again soon..IF You have never eaten at Al Shallal Restaurant, you owe it to Yourself to stop in and check out this Gem. The prices are more than great for what you get..You will make it your regular place to eat as we have..tell them...

This place feels like being welcomed into a friend’s family home that warm, grandmother’s kitchen kind of atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. The hospitality here is genuinely heartwarming and makes every visit special. Their soups are absolutely exceptional. Both the lentil and chicken soups are perfection in a bowl I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve ordered them. Even my kids, who can be picky eaters, love coming here. The fresh salads are another highlight crisp, vibrant, and clearly made with quality ingredients. While the food isn’t fancy or pretentious, it’s undeniably delicious. What I especially appreciate is their commitment to seasonal cooking. The specials change regularly based on what’s fresh, so there’s always something new to discover alongside your favorites. This is the kind of authentic Middle Eastern hospitality and home style cooking that nourishes both body and soul. Highly recommended for anyone seeking comfort food that’s made with genuine care and love.

When I walked in to this restaurant for the first time there was no customers inside (probably it was not the dinner time yet) but after I tested the food it was really good there were couple of differences between theirs shawarma and the others first they don’t t put hummus in the shawarma and the second the chicken is Smokey and that’s what I was surprised with and love it in the other hand as well. idk I’m not sure it was smoked or not probably the owner reply’s here In total it was a good experience and I love the Decorations inside of the restaurant from the books that I saw you can read and the Middle East classical design over the fridge there is one thing though that I’m not happy with it the price of a regular soda like cook and Pepsi I never bought a small soda more than a dollar but I bought that from here for 2 bucks so probably that could be a good hint for the owner but I won’t take any stars from my review since the cashier lady was very respectful and kind .thanks
