edit: appreciate the attempt to rectify things after the review. however this should have been handled immediately in the store proactively and would have been a non issue. the review is not about getting a refund, if these things were communicated clearer or addressed live it would be fine but there was no attempt to fix clear issues which is why I was disappointed and wrote this. this is an important part of building and maintaining a customer base - no customer leaves unhappy, especially after saying we used to come as kids and loved it there. we raised all of this directly to you to give that opportunity to fix things. I hope the feedback is helpful. this is a wonderful place with a long history in the community. im sure this was a one time issue
moved away and came back here for the nostalgia. unfortunately it was underwhelming
rice was extremely salty and left most of it. meat shawarma was refried from earlier in day, not hung and cut fresh (I asked about this beforehand and feel I was misled). beef kabob was good
they asked if we wanted garlic w our dinner and I assumed it came with the meals but it ended up being an $8 upcharge for a small plate of thom. I have never seen even the fanciest arabic restaurants charge $8 for thom with a dinner plate..
for these prices I expect much higher quality and ambiance
service was great but she did not offer a fix for the issues. we are usually very chill about food but spoke up to offer advice since there is so much good competition in dearborn. would have been easy to cut the small garlic plate price, offer a discount due to bad rice (sounds like cook was learning / "working on it"), or address the misunderstanding about shawarma being freshly sliced. however nothing was changed and we paid the full bill
with all the Dearborn options we arent able to try again. it might have just been an off day. I have friends that still like it here....

The generous portions of flavorful, authentic Middle Eastern dishes like shawarma and rice pudding were exactly the soulful, satisfying meal I needed at an amazingly affordable price.
Since they only offer takeout, I ended up savoring every delicious bite right in the back seat of my rental minivan.
