I'd like to start by saying the longevity of this place kind of speaks for itself. I've been coming here since the early 90s and it's never fell off. I Personally love that the sauces and dressing are in-house. The Greek dressing is bold and has a flavor that is unique from other places. The BBQ sauce is really good, tangy and sweet that definitely sets off the ribs and chicken. I really like that the chicken is broasted , it's always juicy, and the outside has that awesome crunch. ( Not many places offer broasted anymore) The ribs are always cooked perfectly , big bones, and have good bark. One of my favorites is the Boneyard burger, a pork/ beef mix that's a hefty 1 pound slab of deliciousness so big 2 slices of American cheese fit across it. It comes on two thick pieces of fresh baked garlic bread and I dare you to try and eat it all. Lol. The menu here is diverse and full of combination plates to satisfy whatever craving you have. The steak is always cooked to perfection, juicy and has that charbroiled taste. Their signature potatoes, the cottage fries, are excellent. Thick sliced, firm , but not soggy. Price point, this place is very reasonable and competitive. You will always get a great deal of food and quality for your money. My last visit there I was granted the honor of being the very last customer before they closed. The manager there got me in a seat and had me on my way to food bliss in a flash. I was politely greeted and waited on by a server named Laura who awesome and very attentive to my needs. (Especially the bud lights). Lol🙏🏽 I took my time making a choice ( always a challenge) , and went with the ribs, shrimp and broasted chicken. For being so close to closing , everything was prompt, fresh and not leftover stuff that was just sitting. The manager was not afraid to help his wait staff gathering things or speeding things along. Sign of good leadership, I don't see a lot often, kudos to him. I was first presented with a heaping pile of ice cold coleslaw that was very tasty. The freshness should be noted, nothing soggy or wilted. Not long after, a platter spilling from the sides is seen coming to the table. I hadn't eaten anything all day, so I was ready. Needless to say the food looked top tier, as always . The chicken was super juicy and golden brown on the outside, the shrimp were huge and perfectly battered, and ribs were super moist and delicious. I ate till I couldn't no more. This dinner could have easily fed 2 people. Laura could see that I was taking some home and swiftly came in with to go boxes . (She was a sweetheart) To my surprise I was blessed with a dessert , turtle cheese cake, as a customer appreciation at additional no charge!. Best slice of cheesecake I had in a long time. I have to add that they have a variety of desserts to choose from , something for everyone. In closing this place has great tasting food and quality service. Just about anyone would enjoy the menu and atmosphere. It definitely has stood the test of time and has never faultured. This will always be one of my favorite places on this side of town, thanks...
Read moreWent here today 12/20/24 around 12:30ish lunch time with a friend who came from out of town wanting to go try for the first time the place I have bragged about for like 20 years about how good the food us here by far the best place to eat around this area. Only to be surprised with the most unprofessional and not expected service. Well not even because we were not even served or attended to!!!! We got there, told the lady who greeted us that we were dining in, some other lady came gave us a booth towards the end of the restaurant and we were seating there literally 15 minutes being IGNORED completely ignored. No waitress came to our table and mind you, 2 different waitresses came to clean a booth in front of us, and another waitress to bring the food to the ladies accross from us. But not once were we acknowledged or even bothered to come to our table to at least say I will be right with you!!! They both looked at us and ignored us even me trying to get the attention if them all I got was a look like whatever!!!! We got up and left and as we was walking out, the ladies on the table across from us even noticed and told us while we was walking out “its a damn shame and we told our waitress to get someone at your table she just ignored us” My thing is, I have been coming to this place for years upon years and have had bad service before yes, but never to this extent and to not even being acknowledged or attended to it is mind blowing to me. While walking out the same lady that took us to our booth just looked at us as we was walking out and not even bothered to say sorry or make it right. She just looked at us like bye! It is crazy to me that on busier days the are quick to come to your table but today that was empty LITERALLY we were completely ignored by the staff!!!! Would I come back? Not sure, I really doubt it. I know these type of businesses don’t care about losing clientele but I think I rather spend my money somewhere else where you are actually served and attended to. And talk about leaving a really bad impression on someone from out of town that has heard people bragging about how amazing this place was!!!!...
Read moreWe were craving ribs and decided to try a place that’s been in business for decades: The Bone Yard right there on Telegraph just south of Warren. I hadn’t eaten here in several years and my wife had never eaten here. We decided to do carry out and chose one of their Combo platters…specifically the Ribs and Broasted Chicken Combo….it comes with 6 ribs and broasted chicken (we elected 2 chicken breasts but you can also choose 1 breast, 1 wing, 1 thigh and 1 leg). This meal also includes a good size serving of cottage fries and cole slaw and garlic bread too (you can substitute baked potato or a tossed salad for $1.49 more). As of Oct of 2024 it was priced at only $22.99!! The verdict? Absolutely delicious!! The ribs were cooked to perfection and we absolutely loved them. We also loved the broasted chicken and agreed that it was some of the BEST broasted chicken we’ve had….and we are both broasted chicken fans. The chicken was bursting with flavor and was super juicy! I can’t say enough good things about this chicken! Additionally the Bone Yard house BBQ sauce is super tasty! The cottage fries and cole slaw were also very good. It also came with some garlic bread that rounded out the meal nicely. One thing that impressed us was the portion size for this combo….at under $23 you’d be hard pressed to find any restaurant serving so much great tasting food at that low a price! These days you can get sticker shock at many restaurants but we felt this meal was a superb value! And hey, who doesn’t like to save a couple bucks? We will 100% be eating here again! Next time you are craving ribs and/or broasted chicken you gotta try The Bone Yard! Another positive was parking was plentiful and the carry out girl was friendly and fast. 5 stars all around!! Note: The price mentioned above does NOT include the tip for the carry out girl. We always tip in cash and try to be as generous as is reasonable and affordable for us. When I was growing up my dad always told me “if you don’t have enough money to leave a good tip then you don’t have enough money to eat out…yes even carry out!”...
