We visited Soul Pig on recommendation from fellow RVers. The restaurant is adjacent to a bar area that’s part of the business, and we were given a choice to sit in either area. We chose the restaurant. The restaurant is fairly new in Decatur (since Nov18). I had a brisket sandwich that also had Mac & Cheese on it, recommended by our server. It was very good. I wouldn’t have imagined that the combination would be so tasty! My wife had a chicken breast. Initially it was under-cooked, so she asked that it be returned. Both the owner and our server were humbly apologetic. A few minutes later one of the owners brought my wife a completely new entre, which she termed delicious. The restaurant is clean and got very busy shortly after we arrived. Several people were obviously return customers, so it apparently has or is becoming a favorite local BBQ spot. The restaurant has more than adequate staff; service was excellent. For me 5-star reviews require perfection. But for my wife’s entre, this would have been a 5-star review. I’m confident this was an exception on otherwise sterling service. Side comment: When an entre is verified to not be prepared correctly and must be returned to the kitchen, one person in the group is watching others eat, and they may be (often are) done eating before the person’s corrected entre is returned. While we never request this, it is my opinion that, when an entre needs to be returned to the kitchen, it should be comp’d. I highly recommend this restaurant and intend to return at least once more before I...

Got the 2 meat platter with brisket and ribs, the wife got the same with Turkey and pulled pork. All the meats were great, wth the brisket being the stand out. Best brisket I have had since I left San Angelo, Tx. in 1981. Large serving to boot. Speaking of large, the sides are also huge, at least twice the size of any of the Ft Wayne BBQ places. To ice the cake they also had Toppling Goliath "Onyx" on tap. Prices are quite reasonable. Come with a big appetite and enjoy some great food. Well worth the drive from Ft. Wayne.

Update 9/21 This hurts to write, but had to drop my 5 star review s own to 2. The food is still great, but if you order one of their mixed drinks, then buyer beware. I ordered the Ancho Mango Margarita. Their drink menu lists the ingredients as : El Mayor Cristalino Tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh mango, and ancho simple syrup. What I received was some cheap Cuervo tequila, bottom shelf well schnapps of some sort, plain simple syrup, and some mango . Pretty deceptive, no ? I questioned the girl making them after it was served (I was at the rail and watched her make it ), and her response was " yeah, we're out of some stuff". I also was not asked if I wanted a salted rim, so what I received was undrinkable, and bore no resemblance to its description. Inexcusable. Since I never drank more than a sip, she did remove it from my bill. My last bill ever, I don't like...

The Soul Pig was well worth the wait. It was only about 30 minutes, every customer walking out all expressed this as well with a big smile. You could smell the smoky goodness coming from the kitchen, with sounds of live music and a happy crowd I could not wait to eat. I got the 3 Meat/2 side plate. The Pulled Pork was just slightly dry, but I am gonna blame that on time, if we'd gotten there early I am sure it would have been fresh outta the smoker. The Smoked Sausage.. to die for! It popped in your mouth with every bite. Then there was the Brisket... some of the best I have had, probably the best north of the Ohio River. The Mac n Cheese, was just that.. the Cornbread very flavorful. The Spicy Bourbon Sauce was a nice touch to the pulled pork. The only 2 reasons I cant give it 5 stars, the restroom is small, fits 1 and as a fat guy who loves to eat and drink... I found that an issue. The Second reason, the Craft Brew selection was limited or had ran out. When in doubt, always keep some Bells 2 Hearted as a back up or another Hoppy IPA type, it pairs well with BBQ! All in All, after I got the Bill, I was shocked at what a deal it was! Ive paid more other places for just the Brisket! And look at that Amazing Brisket! 4.75 Stars is my official rating. Will...

A nice place to go for some BBQ. The atmosphere was good and the food was good. I got the Brisket Melt and it was tasty. One of the best parts was the pork rinds! They were fresh, hot, and full of flavor. They also had a slaw that had blue cheese in it. A unique flavor profile, not for those who don't don't like blue cheese. Some may say the fries and rinds were over seasoned and they might be right. However I was a huge fan of them. The portions were a decent size, but seemed a little pricier than other BBQ joints. As a family of 4 our bill w/tip was about $60. It is a smaller joint with limited seating but I would still recommend and I will visit again.

Been to a lot of BBQ places due to work travel. This easily takes the cake. Carolina style BBQ done amazingly. Good Beer selection amazing food, fantastic wait staff. Went there on a Monday evening for dinner and got Chopped Brisket, pulled pork and ribs and mac n cheese and potato salad. Everything was delicious. We thought it was so good we went back for lunch before heading out of town, got the BnB burger, bacony blue cheesey, unreal burger very good all around. Wish these guys were closer to home.
