We happened on The Old 27 lce Cream while traveling through the area and what a great find! The ice cream "flight" gave us the chance to try four flavors (Key Lime Pie, Lemon Sorbet, Triple Chocolate, and Carrot Cake) and all the flavors and textures were great. The seating is outside under shade and they offer a small mini-golf course in back. The town of Decatur seems worth a visit as well: they were having a weeks-long sculpture walk/contest and a Bavarian party the night we stopped.

I stopped here to get my kiddo a little ice cream treat to end the week. The service was good, the attendant was friendly, especially to my boy. They had a number of options of ice cream, as well as soft serve and dipped. They also have a solid food menu. We only tried the one ice cream, though.

Super ice cream shop in Decatur, IN on old US 27!!! Closed during the winter, but will reopen in the Spring. Nice variety of ice creams plus you can get other items for your eating enjoyment! Competent staff and you can sit around tables outside. Other games available for entertainment. Nice historical place for a meal for the whole family or a delicious dessert good anytime or the day or evening! I scream for ice cream!! Come on spring and Old 27 Ice Cream Shop!! Atmosphere! They have fun games outside,I love that I can get fruit so if we play we don't have to get ice cream (& the calories) plus it's easy better when you're hungry to stop here for a banana than to go anywhere to get a sandwich loaded with oil, fat, & cholesterol.

That being said, here's the scoop, they have soft serve & the real deal scoop ice cream. You can get anything with EITHER. The only downside, it doesn't have reliable hours so take a pic at the window (website hours are not correct) and they're only...
