Tio Juan Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Decatur

Just a warning for those in the fence. Been there twice. First time was ok. The female manager was rude (girl bully attitude) but I ignored it.

The last visit was the most insane experience I could have ever imagined. I guess they were running low on cheese and didn’t want to admit it. The cheese dip was watered down. A menu item that was supposed to have cheese didn’t. If you are out of something, just admit it. Most customers will select something else. They did not want to take that meal off our bill. It wasn’t consumed. But they reluctantly did. When asked for an itemized bill to confirm, I was refused and a menu was shoved at me to do it myself.

Honestly, it took all my might to stay calm, and I did, even when she called the police on me (how insane!). I knew I had nothing to worry about because I just wanted an itemized receipt, and I’ve done nothing wrong, so I stayed. The police did arrive. Poor guys. Such a waste of their time.

She finally provided an itemized receipt. And, I was overcharged by a small amount, even after she removed the meal. She knew she was wrong. The restaurant did ultimately refund our entire meal (which is not want I wanted. I just wanted to be properly charged). I tried to insist on paying for the meals that were consumed but was denied. I like supporting local restaurants instead of the chain restaurants, and this is why I tried to pay for the rest of our meals.

As it turns out, they are struggling financially (news article about them not paying sales taxes they have collected for the city, and is/was about to be shutdown). I guess this stress is getting to the management team and they are taking it out in their customers when they are called out on when being cheated.

Hopefully since this incident (August 2023) they have better leadership, better quality food, and better service. I, on the other hand, will never ever return or support any other...

Worst customer service ever!!! I went and had an early dinner with my mother in law and my two children. Everything was OK until I informed the server that the guacamole was spoiled. The manager starts saying there are no refunds or returns. I informed him that I wasn't trying to get my food free and merely letting know there's an issue with the batch that it taste like it has spoiled tomatoes. He starts going off on me and telling me that I am rude and disrespectful because other people love their Guacamole. I will never be back!! Just sad how some establishments treat their customers. I am one of the nicest and most respectful people you will meet and was treated horribly because of the issue...

Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Walking in the place looked run down and unclean. Ordered a margarita and it tasted like straight mix and no tequila. Was undrinkable and still charged me for it. Menu had very little to choose from. Ordered tamales with rice and beans. Uhhggg! Plate full of grease. Rice looked days old and dry. Beans had nasty film on top. Tamales was soo spicy hot could only stand a bite and again they charged me. Left hungry and mad. Hoping the health department inspects this place because after seeing the front I could only imagine what the kitchen looks like. I don't understand the good reviews on here unless it was good at a earlier time but I know now it's a waste of...
