I REALLY want to give this place a better rating. I really do. We arrived just after 6:30pm, was told to sit anywhere (we chose to stay inside) and sat down. After about 5 minutes a young waitress came over, handed us menus and took our drink order. We got our drinks a few minutes later. after another 5 minutes we put in our order of two appetizers (fried cauliflower & meatballs) and we each asked for a burger. About 15 minutes after this, we hear one of the guys from the kitchen (we were about 15-20ft from the door) mention something about cauliflower and if there was any. Another 15 minutes later the waitress finally comes out and tells us that they didn't have any cauliflower. We said that's fine, we'll just take a meatballs, and I asked if we could get some bread. She said yes and when she walked into the kitchen I heard her ask "Do we have bread?" A few minutes later she brought a plate out with bread and a bowl of olive oil and seasonings (which was very good). Another 5ish minutes later we finally got out meatballs. They were VERY good, and definitely homemade. By now it's about 7:15 and we just got our appetizer... The other table that had arrived right before us, and ordered just before us, got their food right after we finished the meatballs. We were getting pretty annoyed at this point. after about 10 minutes our waitress apologized and said our burgers would be out in two minutes. Two turned to five, and almost turned to 10 before we had our dinner. It was almost an hour after we arrived and sat down. She apologized again. We just said thank you and started to eat. We were almost done when she asked if we needed anything else, or the check. She gave us the check and we wrapped up our food. She returned about 5 minutes later to grab our check. I paid in cash and would need change. She took it away and went into the back. She came out of the kitchen a couple minutes later with plates for another table. At this point, I'm pretty annoyed. I watched her return to the kitchen, and then leave with another set of plates for a different table. After dropping those off, I saw her go towards the back and pull the book with out check out. A few minutes later she came out of the kitchen with something else. Now through out the night the owner (Sal) has been walking around talking to various tables. I was just trying to get his attention, when our waitress walked back in to the room. To which is loudly said "Can I have my change please?" She then asked Sal if there was change. So at least five minutes have gone by since she picked up our check and she couldn't say "Excuse me Sal, I need some change." Sal went over to the other register, and got her our change. By the time we left it was just before 8:00pm. We were on vacation, looking forward to having a nice dinner since we haven't in a long while. This night totally ruined that, we were very disappointed. *A few notes if you've made it this far. I do not blame our waitress for the slow night. I do blame her for not being responsible enough to get our change in a timely manner. It was NOT a busy night. we were one of maybe 7 tables when we arrived. There were 3 or 4 waitresses. The kitchen seems very unorganized. They don't know if they've run out of something or not? They also seem to not be communicating things like this to the waitresses? The other table had ordered penne a la vodka but when their food was brought out their waitress said 'I'm sorry, we didn't have any penne. Our pasta is made fresh every day and we've run out. We used linguine, I hope that's okay.' Our waitress seemed to be fairly young, maybe 18, and might be new. Also, judging by the reviews, and something the owner mentioned, they've recently reopened? I know it's tough when first opening. I'd really love to give this place another chance. The food was good, even though the burgers were under-seasoned and very plain, and my boyfriends burger was over cooked. The owner was very nice, and I hope he can get things sorted out. This place has a lot...
Read moreI was visiting Deep River for the day and had read many reviews Landing & Main had some great reviews so I was hoping we would have a great experience. I was mistaken and embarrassed that I took guests to this restaurant with me.
Lets start with the lemonades all being water, I guess the waitress didn't notice the glass had no color to them. They did fix this. Our waitress, I am not sure what she was doing, we were her only guest and our service was bread plates, no salt, pepper, never refilled drinks even when we asked. The Food: took 40 minutes from ordering only 1 other couple at the bar and 1 other table. Philly Cheesesteak wrap grease soggy went right through the wrap that made it inedible, our guest had to scrape the meat out of a soggy wrap. My husbands Ribeye was rare, waitress never checked to see how it was cooked we didn't see her, Italian salad dressing was just oil and vinegar nooooo seasoning in it what so ever. I don't know if it was made this way (then you would call it oil and vinegar), or the waitress didn't stir the dressing when she put it in its side container. chicken piccatta , the portion was decent no lemon flavor what so ever, tasted like plain pasta very unappetising.
Lets move on to the cleanliness of the bathroom: the bowl was clean but the top of the tank was dusty but behind the seat cover it looked like something you might see in a gas station, hadn't been cleaned in awhile and was covered in yellow urine, not what I wanted to see while I am trying to eat my dinner.
so I am sorry for this review, because I really did have high hopes and I was looking forward to a decent meal all day. Also would like to say we saw the bar tender working at the bar he even cleared a table in the dining room, i wish we had him serving us he seemed to be attentive unlike our waitress who had 2 really extreme long fingernails on her hand not sure if the rest fell off somewhere along the line. She really needs to be retrained, we were her only customer so there is no excuse for such...
Read moreWe had Heather as our server and she was wonderful. We were a boisterous group of six people. She sat us earlier than our reservation and served drinks while we waited for our party. The restaurant was not at all full but the few folks there seemed very happy. The owner came to say friendly hello and short chitchat. But Heather is the star of our visit! She was very gracious patient and answered all of our questions (and we had a lot of questions) with no judgement or pressure. It helped that we were there on a bit of a slow night.
The Food: everyone's dish was amazing!!!! I had the Coffee rub pork chop which was one of the specials. One other popular dish was the buttermilk chicken on the main menu. My favorite part was how well seasoned the food is. Not over done with too much salt. You don't really need anything but your fork and knife. The pork chop was perfectly done, juicy and every single bite was delicious. Its a HUGE portion so you will have leftovers. The carrots were cooked in a way that, though they were sweet, you could still taste the integrity of the carrot ( and not just the syrupy brow sugar; very well balanced). You really want to get the mash potatoes.
We had the key lime pie for dessert and buffalo cauliflower and spinach artichoke dip as our two appetizers. A great night of food and conversation was had by all. Shout out to Mike (Matt?) The chef! He's amazing. Really...
