Pappa Geno's — Restaurant in Deer Park

I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but sadly, my recent visit left me disappointed. This place used to have such vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients, but something has changed.

The #2 on menu that I always get was not the same as previous times. Meat was dry and lacked seasoning, and the cheese didn’t add any real flavor—it just kind of sat there. Even the bread, which is usually a highlight of a good cheesesteak, was stale and didn’t complement the sandwich at all.

The staff were friendly, but the food is what kept me coming back—and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the standard I remember. I’m hoping this was just an off day, but right now, it feels like the quality has slipped. I really hope they get back to what...

The philly cheesesteak was good.. the fries were ok.. the problem is the price for what u get.. 2 people and we shared a fry and it was $43.. the lady taking the order, forgot to add the peppers and told me I needed to pay $1 before I could get them.. which wasn't a big deal, but I already felt like they were too pricey and it was her mistake... good customer service goes a long way.. $4.99 for fries with gravy.. and it was literally the size of a medium McDonald's fry.. $3.99 for a med fountain drink.. there is a reason there was only us and 1 other table at 12pm.. I used to really like this place, but I think they are raising their prices to make up for foot traffic.. and it's actually doing the exact opposite of...

Good food, not for groups or families. Was so excited to see a papa genos close by, this is our 3rd visit, and our first with kids. We spent as much here ($60) as we would at much fancier place with much more food at the fancy places. The cashier was in and out and every time we had a problem, she would vanish. Items were cooked and delivered to table one at a time. We could tell because as sandwich 1 was delivered we heard the 2nd sandwich being cooked. Most of the pepper on the chicken Philly was piled in 1/8 of the sandwich. The cashier forgot to ring up an order of fries, then tried to claim she never heard the order.
