If you walk near the corner of Seventh Street and Lincoln Highway, you may catch a smell of Lothson's chicken. The business and its big neon "CHICKEN" sign are a DeKalb institution.
The Colonel should be demoted to the rank of corporal because this chicken puts KFC to shame.
My favorite is the two-piece fish and chips: fried perch, french fries, bread roll, and potato salad (or coleslaw). The price is less than $5. That's less than a meal at McDonald's!
They open from Wednesday to Sunday and only after 4:30 in the afternoon. Food usually takes 15 to 20 minutes to prepare so call ahead.
Next time you think about going to McDonald's or other boring fast food, stop to call Lothson's first...by the time you get there you'll have a delicious fresh meal...

I know it's always open on Sundays and Wednesdays 4:30 to 7:00. I think one of the secrets is that she chooses small chickens which have the best flavor. She puts a light breading on it so the chicken tastes exceptional. You can order a five-wing dinner which I love. He'll come with a small vinegar, coleslaw and some fries. I always try to come at the opening so the grease is fresh and not going to affect the taste...

It pairs well with the roll. Coleslaw is nice and tangy. For being the first week of March, the food arrived home and it was still warm! I will only be ordering fried chicken...
