I have been to the Grove a handful of times, but the last time we ordered to go and we will not be returning. I ordered from "Toast" which is directly linked to their website. It has options for sides on entrée items. We ordered 2 entrees (with fries) and 2 appetizers (spending close to $80). Went to go pick it up at the time the app stated it would be ready. The hostess stated it would be another 15-20 minutes for my food. Okay, no big deal. I went home considering I do not live far from this restaurant. After returning, I felt like the bag was very light. So, I checked my order and they had forgotten the dipping juice for the Chicago beef and the spicy ranch for the fried pickles. After going back in and getting the correct items, I went home. I apparently did not even check to see that they forgot the side order of fries that came with the beef and the steak wrap. I called the number on the app which directed me to "the manager" of the restaurant. But, it was a random person from Earlville acting as the manager. I hung up, laughed it off, and googled the correct number. I told them that the app had an incorrect phone number leading to someone who stated they were the manager of their restaurant. I realized this very early on, but this could absolutely get them into trouble because the guy was somewhat of a jokester asking if I had already eaten the fries that were missing. I could laugh it off, but someone might not think they are funny. Anyway, I explained the actual problem of not receiving the side of fries and I already felt like an idiot after going in there a third time to complain about the sauces. I am really not one to complain, but after spending close to $80 for a half-ordered dinner, I felt compelled to write this. I never actually spoke with the manager but spoke with the front hostess who stated the manager would refund the card we paid with. We never got any sort of refund. I really wanted to like this restaurant considering we live 5 minutes down the road. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the Ahi Poke appetizer is very good as well as the Chicago Beef grilled cheese. But, the fried pickles are sub-par, soggy, and very small order for 9$. The food is good when they...
Read moreOur party of 3 arrived shortly after 5:00pm on a Friday before Christmas and the place was a little over half capacity. We were greeted and seated immediately. The place is very open, clean and comfortable with decent lighting! (many places I find far to dark to be comfortable. Not the case here) I will say that the music was up too loud and it wasn't particularly recognizable music, mostly just bumping and booming sounds but we were still able to speak comfortably with our group. Our server Nicole was great! Very attentive and answered our questions about menu items when asked. When we finished she was quick to bring us the bill when asked and a box. None of that waiting around trying to flag someone down. We chatted about how long The Grove had been open and where excited to hear from her how well they've been doing because we can't wait to come back!
We order the poutine for our appetizer and it came out quickly, hot and delicious! 10/10 would recommend! It was a large portion and could have easily been a meal for someone. We shared between 3 and had leftovers! For our entrées we ordered the Chicken Colorado with Fries, Patty Melt with Onion Rings for an up-charge and the Caesar Salad. Our food came out just as great as the appetizer and we all throughly enjoyed. As we normally do we shared all the food so we could try it all and they were ALL excellent!
If you haven't tried out The Grove yet I suggest you try it out! The food, pricing and atmosphere are fantastic! Can't wait to go back and try some...
Read moreWent there today as they were opening (we were the first customers in) with the boyfriend for a little date. It was our first time there, and wanted to grab some lunch before heading to work. I ordered the steak quesadilla and my partner ordered a streak wrap. We sat at the bar, and there were about 5 customers inside the restaurant at that point when our food was brought out. The food, especially the steak meat itself was phenomenal. The service from the bartender was excellent as well, he was very attentive, genuine and provided excellent service. However, the sticking point for us was, we could hear the men in the kitchen having very loud conversations, cursing, dropping f-bombs, laughing, just sounded like they were goofing off. The language used did not fit the restaurant! The restaurant was clean and visually pleasing, but overhearing those cooks speaking fowl language at such a high volume was not only disrespectful but also very trashy. I am a customer experience manager in retail, and that would never fly in our workplace. My partner also has previous restaurant experience and he too was shocked. Food was delicious, but no one wants to overhear consistent f-bombs, fowl language, and music blasting from someone's phone from the kitchen. I don't believe we'll be...
