Very good home made tortillas....had them filled with beans and chicken...I think that they put some cheese and onion in there as well. My 2 burritos came with a small portion of lettuce and a tomato slice...I had cranberry juice to drink. This was very filling to me and satisfying. Tasted like home cooked food...very appreciated when I am not able to cook for myself. Our food took 15 minutes to be prepared, so while I waited, I checked over the reviews. This was my first time coming to this restaurant so I was curious about the reviews. There were many glowing reviews for this place and a few not so nice reviews sprinkled in the mix. Those bad reviews that I saw were so ridiculous. People complaining of no " free salsa and chips." Well, guess what people...the prices here are reasonable as compared with other Mexican restaurants in the area( Dekalb)AND...those restaurants that have higher prices give you "Free chips and salsa" and include the price in your meal. You pay for them anyway you look at it. Plus, if you want chips and salsa that bad, the grocery store has authentic Mexican tortilla chips and salsa! Knock yourself out!! Furthermore, people complained about portion sizes...people please!! 2 burritos stuffed me...they are $3.99 each!! WTH? You want quality food then you pay for it...they can't get any cheaper without the restaurant closing its doors! There are operating expenses associated with running a restaurant and $3.99 for a good, tasty burrito was a bargain to me. Last but not least, some were trying to define the e word "authentic" by comparing this restaurant to Taco Bell...seriously?? Go back...
Read moreI recommend some options at this restaurant. I absolutely love the pollo del rey! strips of chicken breast grilled to perfection with a slightly spicy Mexican seasoning on a bed of rice with sauteed green peppers and onions, and two melted cheeses. $14.89. I also love their ground beef tacos or enchiladas, perfect flavor! I unfortunately think the cheese they use for certain items detracts from their food. It’s not a high quality cheese or a mexican cheese, I usually take it off my taco’s. I recommend going to Rosita’s on Thursday nights because it’s $5 margaritas and I absolutely love their margaritas because I don’t think they’re that strong which I enjoy. I also see that they offer $5 watermelon margaritas on Tuesday which I’ve never had but will definitely try soon. I like to try different flavors when they're so affordable but my favorite one is frozen strawberry! One important thing to know before you go is that Rositas does not offer you free chips and salsa, for whatever reason they bring you salsa and you’re welcome to use it with your meal but no free chips which really sucks. Final point, I’m not sure when restaurants started doing this but Rositas has a service charge for some reason. I’m not a happy camper about the service charge, no free chips or their subpar cheese. Sorry about the pictures, I forgot to take them before eating. Our receipt had an incorrect price because it was the Thursday special for margaritas and they fixed it when we left. Service has always been...
Read moreGreat food, great Mexican cuisine with some Southwestern twists. The combo platters are great (the #3 !!!!) and the specials change with some regularity and are usually good to mix it up. Really great apps. - I recommend trying the large guacamole and the green salsa....EXCELLENT !!!
I've been going here since I can remember - 30+ years - and have, 90% of the time, gotten great food/service, which if you consider how many times I've been there is pretty damn good. (avg. 2 times a month)
A great place for lunch or dinner with family or friends, kids, large groups or even a date night.
I personally don't drink em, but my friends/family recommend the Killerita's - a giant margarita (usually) made for two.
To the reviewers that complained that it isn't "authentic" Mexican.... I'd like to ask you when the last time (if ever) you had AUTHENTIC Mexican food. Everytime I've had 'authentic' Mexican it was VERY bland - WAY more "bland" than Rosita's.... TRY THE SALSA... The food is hardly frozen/thawed - I've been in their kitchen more than a few times, AND I still eat there, which if you knew me, would be proof positive that its good food.
I've been to Taxco a few times and it would be more what I would call "authentic", which isn't what I'm looking for. It's fine, don't get me wrong, just not my taste...
I do agree with the reviewer that complained about not getting chips free with your meal - the salsa is already on the table. Eduardo's salsa is better.... Sorry...
