Arrived on a VERY BUSY Friday evening without a reservation. The town was bustling everywhere due to a sold-out performance at the Egyptian Theatre. Yes, sold-out. The hostess/waitress was completely overwhelmed, but sincerely trying to do her very best. She was able to find us 2 seats at the bar after about a 15 minute wait and then took our order. The bartender was equally completely overwhelmed and performing double duty....maybe triple. We waited quite awhile for our beers to arrive, but were appreciative nonetheless. Others around us waited longer. Our food arrived in surprisingly timely fashion. We even received an extra order of fries. My wife's panini was very good. My slider burgers were so-so. Disappointing actually. We have eaten here several times over the years, usually ordering multiple small plates to share and completely enjoying the food. A shout out to the young lady who waited on us. She was literally running the entire time...
Read moreAte here for the first time with some friends. Food was just okay. Appetizer of bruschetta was just French bread, slice of tomato, slice of cheese, quarter sized dollop of pesto. I ordered the Beef and Asparagus meal, the beef was super tender, but it was served with some sort of sweet sauce that was not mentioned in the menu. I wouldn't have ordered if I had known that. Eventually a heat kicked in that hid the sweetness and made it so I could finish the meal. My wife ordered Chicken Sliders and she didn't like the flavor of that sauce either. Fries were supposed to be "parmesan fries" and all they had was a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on them. Other places we've been to actually use oils or garlic to make the upgrade worth it. One person in our party didn't get their sushi for almost 10 minutes after everyone else received their food. She enjoyed her meal, and the 4th person with us was happy with their angus sliders. Overall 50/50 on if we would...
Read moreThis place is worth it for the atmosphere alone; exquisitely decorated, hip and hand-tailored, warm low-toned lighting casts down upon deep red booths, rustic exposed brick, richly polished oak floors and tables, stormy purple accents, a fiery stained glass facade along the bar. It’s the kind of place you wile away a rainy Thursday evening with an old friend, reminiscing about times past over a bottle of good wine, while a jazz guitarist ushers a nostalgic mood in the corner. You let your guard down, you find yourself growing uninhibited, the space itself welcomes you, and you in turn feel loved. You might call it a flickering outpost of pure warmth and human spirit in an otherwise cold and fragmented world.
This is to say nothing of the food. Bacon wrapped dates, Crab Cakes, Sushi, Salmon Pesto Pasta, Chicken Chorizo Stir Fry, Fig Spread, Bacon-Onion Jam, Pearl Sugar Waffle,...
