I just had my first negative experience at Tom and Jerry's. I eat here almost every day because I like to patronize local establishments, but this might enough to scare me away for good. I am carnivore, so there are few places where I can order just meat and feel like I got my money's worth. This was one of them. I would pay 8.79 after tax a couple days a week to get a gyro with no pita or toppingsāso just the meatāand it actually filled me up. When I needed to pack food for the next day, I would order extra meat for an extra 4.50, and I always got a second container with more meat in it. Today, I ordered my usual with the extra meat, was charged over $13, and given exactly the same amount of meat as I usually get from a single meat order. No second container, and the single container was not even particularly full. I assumed it was just a mistake and went in to ask the staff for the rest of my order. They turned me away, saying the single container I usually pay 8.79 for (that's not even super full) was the double meat order. The manager (I don't know his name but he looked Nigerian) insisted and actually laughed at me when I asked about it. He insisted I had not been getting that much with a single order when I definitely have. I felt demeaned by the way he handled the situation, and now I'm afraid he's going to instruct the kitchen staff to put less meat in the containers (I saw him talking to them). I may give it one more shot, but this is the only thing on the menu I can safely eat on my diet, and if the meat volume per order lessens I will have no reason to come back. I used to bring out-of-town friends here, but from this point on I will no longer be a regular customer of Tom and Jerry's. For all the carnivore's out there: go to Culvers. They only charge 1.80 per patty so you can get a proper...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to love going to Tom & Jerry's Restaurant. When my family and I first moved to Sycamore, they were one of our first experiences with the community. They had wonderful food and amazing staff (heck, one of the employees even helped us look for our lost cat. We live in the homes behind the restaurant, and the employee heard us calling for our cat and offered to help)! Their staff was always so friendly, with great conversations and even giving combo recommendations to save a few bucks. They were always kind to my toddler which was a huge plus; just an all around wholesome feel of "small town good neighbor". With that said, the last several times I've gone have been a disappointment. The food quality has been okay, but definitely not as constant as it once was. Which I know can sometimes be due to new staff and what not. Honestly what's been the most disappointing, is the attitude of the staff. I feel like I am an inconvenience to them. Where it used to be friendly engaging interactions, I am now faced with rude tempers or getting cut off. I've had the window shut on me a few times when I've tried to talk with them. One time when I was trying to tell them they gave me the wrong order! I had to wave a few times to get them to address me again. The last straw was because of yet another rude interaction from today. They had clipped tone with my husband the entire time, and once again messed up the order. I get that fast food can be demanding, I worked in retail customer service for over 15 years. But if you don't want to treat your customers with respect, get a new job. Tom & Jerry's used to be so friendly but now they feel no different from McDonalds. It's sad but they are no longer worth my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTom &Jerry's is usually our go to when we don't feel like cooking and want good food. We've had some pretty bad experiences a few years ago and I'd left a pretty bad review, but we've been ordering pretty consistently for about a year now and they have redeemed themselves tremendously!! Instead of just editing a previous review, I deleted it completely because we believe that maybe they'd had some bad people working there and they're possibly no longer there. We usually order a few times a month and our food has always been fantastic!! Tonight I got a 2pc fried chicken dinner and it was amazing! The breading is absolutely fantastic! My only complaint would be that for almost $12 for 2 pieces that I'd get one great piece and then a littler piece. Like a breast and a wing, or a thigh and a leg but instead I got a small thigh and a little wing. It wasn't a lot of meat at all. However that doesn't take away from the fact that it was still super good! My husband got a half slab of ribs and he was totally blown away! He said that they were the best ribs he's ever had!(and he's had a lot) The sauce had a tiny kick to it and that it was amazing, the meat wasn't fall off the bone but it wasn't tough or chewy that they were the most perfect ribs he's had, even better than my own! (But that's ok!) We've taken family there from out of town a couple times and they have loved it as well! They also have great burgers and The Best chicken tenders ever! I usually always order them. And their home made sauces like their ranch and chipotle ranch are finger...
