Very disappointed in my very first time ever at this place. I want to just start off by saying they are not all they are hyped up to be. Half of y'all must be drunk when you're there or you just don't know what delicious food really is. It started off good, appetizers were yummy. But when it came to the main course, mac & cheese was very dry, not fresh at all. Or cheesy. Like they MICROWAVED it. And my grilled chicken had a HAIR in it. I did show the server and she saw for herself, asked me if I wanted another one I said sure, I should've never said yes because honestly my appetite was completely gone at that point & I never even ate the second one they brought out. About that, the second GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST came out in literally 5 minutes.. less than 10 minutes for grilled chicken. Now I know it was only 1 piece, but it takes longer than that to fully cook chicken. So I'm guessing they use a pressure cooker, then slap it on the grill for the look of the grill marks and call it a day. My husband order steak, he said it was alright, nothing special. The applesauce tasted like it was from Walmart. Nothing special. My 8 year old son (who is very familiar with steak and loves it) said his steak bites were dry and that he was disappointed.. and yes those are his words, he gave it a 5 out of 10, and he said that my husband makes better steak at home. My son barely touched his food. And no that's not because he is a child, believe it or not, not all kids barely eat or just want mac and cheese. I left hungry because I lost my appetite and all I could envision was a hair in my food again. The MANAGER did not come to the table to personally apologize or offer to compensate me by making my meal free. So I asked, politely. I immediately got attitude from our server and she said "well you got another one brought out but sure I'll ask". Very rude. Also, I didn't even eat it. The hair in the previous one and the fact that the second one came out in 5 minutes threw my appetite completely off. Not to mention, "you got another one" comment, lol ya I'm sorry I thought that was a GIVEN considering I'm not going to eat food WITH HAIR IN IT. OBVIOUSLY I should get a replacement. I know she was upset because she knew that if I got money taken off the bill then her tip wouldn't be as big, even though I planned on tipping her well anyway. (I still gave her 15%, would have gotten 20% if she didn't cop an attitude and put her 2 cents in where it didn't belong). But her whole demeanor/attitude changed when I mentioned getting the chicken for free. She then came back and said the manger took it off the bill, which I was very grateful for. I expressed my gratitude. Then the server brought a bag for the containers but never said "thanks for coming, sorry again about your experience, I hope you have a good night" none of that. Kayla hun, if you want to be mad at someone be mad at the cook and the owner for not having stricter policies in the kitchen. Can't let your emotions get the best of you when you serve. I would know. I was very polite about the whole thing. Not once did I demand anything, or take it out on the server. I asked nicely if it would be possible to have that meal on the house. Not to mention $20 for a piece of CHICKEN?!? That had hair in it. I can go buy 2 family packs for that much. It wasn't THAT good for it to cost that much. This place is overpriced for the quality. Nothing very special or different. As we walked out we passed the manager and she still never said anything about the situation. She did tell us to have a good night and I said thank you, you too. After we got home, my husband and I both had stomachaches. Didn't feel right after that.. Overall, my first experience was bad and it was my last. My family and I will never be coming back here. Especially for overpriced microwaved leftovers and service that wasn't acceptable. And to the owner, don't even bother responding, looking at the way you did to all the other ones, no personal response, all the same. Check out Craft'd in Yorkville. They are...
Read moreTexas Roadhouse has in the past few years been our Birthday and special occasions restaurant, so we go several times a year. This special occasion was for a family member who was visiting us from Boston. When we got there it was less busy than it has been in the past. A few times we had to wait in a waiting area that feels a bit like being stuck in a cattle car when there are a lot of people waiting. This time we got a table rather quickly, but I was kind of disappointed that they put us at a booth table for 4 when we had 5 people. The hostess brought over a chair for one of us to sit on at the edge of that booth table. I'm pretty sure there is a seating area that facilitates more than 4 people, so was confused by why this was where we were seated. We are pretty casual folk and will go with the flow and still have fun, so that is what we did. However all through the meal it presented space issues that can make one feel cramped. They give you these two little pails for the complimentary peanuts and the shells after you have eaten the peanut. It got to a point where we were placing saucers on top of those pails to create more space to put things.
The waitress asked us several times if we wanted appetizers, but we were remembered that they have complimentary bread and we didn't want to fill up too much as in past visits we seem to always be taking home large portions of the meal because we'd be too full to finish. We had to ask for the complimentary bread, whereas in the past they usually get that out there pretty quickly.
We still had a good time and the food was good as usual. Though one in our group did mention the chicken fried steak was not as good as in the past. But.... she was eating a whole lot more bread than the rest of us before the food came.
We still love this place, but I do think the seating situation is probably something they'd want to avoid in the future. It didn't ruin the night for us, but honestly, it felt like we were accommodating our hosts more than they were accommodating us in this aspect of the visit. It was just family and we are casual so it wasn't a big deal, but if I was taking guests there I'd feel uncomfortable having to put them through discomfort of cramped seating and table space. It's usually a 4-5 start visit,...
Read moreI've given Texas Roadhouse several chances over the course of several years, each time, I have been at least fairly disappointed. I know I've been let down twice by the catfish....yeah my bad, why would one even think that fried catfish at Texas Roadhouse would be goodđ I made the mistake not one time, but two times, as I had forgotten that I had it previously...that is, until I tried it again and the ungoodness of it rekindled my memoryđŹ Very very salty and dry. Another thing I've had a few times are their burgers, it seems like a basic thing, burgers aren't that complicated right? Yeah, well those were excessively salty too. I honestly don't usually complain, I'll just try to remember not to order the same thing again (I need to start noting this or something đ¤Ł), maybe remember to go somewhere else instead, but this time I said something. 4 people in our party of 8 got burgers, 4 people were disappointed and didn't finish them. They weren't just too salty, they were also overcooked. I've noticed a lot of places ask how you want your burger done and then it's like 2 levels beyond that, and so by that observation it appears I should just ask for a raw patty and maybe then I'll get my medium rare burger...jk... Service wise, the waitress was not very attentive, our drinks were empty for quite awhile, she missed a couple of different requests for water, maybe she didnt hear us, maybe she was distracted, she was busy, it was NYE this particular visit, but it was also 4 pm and they had a full wait staff and as a previous waitress, it didn't seem overwhelming. I'm pretty sure we were the biggest table at that particular time, and a party of 8 isn't anything too crazy. The hostess was nice and apologetic, she is the one who fielded my complaint. We got 4 coupons for a free cactus blossom aka blooming onion or a fried pickles appetizer, not much of a consolation prize. I will say that the 4 who ordered steaks were very happy. The steaks were cooked the way they wanted them and they were all very happy. Two got mashed potatoes and they said they were delicious, I definitely eyed them with envy. IF i go back, I will definitely be getting a steak and the...
