The Delafield Brewhaus is a rather large establishment with a full bar, full menu, fresh brews, indoor and outdoor seating, and a variety of delicious and affordable options for the entire family. It does get a bit loud at times, but there are areas that are a bit more quiet if you're looking for a quieter experience. Just ask when you enter or make a reservation. They're very accommodating!
I want to talk about the service. We've never had an issue making a reservation, and whoever answers the phone has always been polite. You'll generally be greeted at the door with a smile, and we've always been seated quickly. Water is offered up immediately, and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks come quickly. There's never been an issue with getting checks split into groups within a group, or an issue with the bill. The food comes out at the same time for everyone, and I've never heard complaints about food temperature or texture.
Now let's talk food. I've tried everything from their cheese curds to crab cakes to salad options to fish fry to pizza to wings to burgers and have never had any complaints or had anyone go home unhappy or hungry. The portion sizes are very good for the menu prices. My only issue with the food is that some of the desserts are pretty boring and seem a bit pre-fab. Don't get me wrong, they have some good options (Rumchata bread pudding, anyone?), but I wish there were some more homey options. In good news, some menu items change with specials, so there's always something new to try without too much repetition. I only wish that the tickets were read a bit better in the back of the house. There have been a few instances of items coming out wrong. Mistakes have always been quickly addressed, but it is a bit annoying to have to wait to eat when most have their food in front of them, ready to go. As a personal favorite, I'd like to recommend their salads. I especially love the Grecian! They do not skimp on salad ingredients, and even their side salads are decent! One of my absolute favorite things about Delafield Brewhaus that is probably not mentioned in other reviews, is that their greens are always crisp, cool, and tasty! I'll literally stop going somewhere because of slimy greens, so thank you for keeping the salads a star on the menu! I do wish the dressings were a bit thicker at times, but this seems to change. I'm pretty convinced that at least some dressings are made in house, as there has been some inconsistency in their texture and flavor. Just have a napkin ready!
Another notable item- their fried cheese curds! They are 3rd on my list, only trailing behind Mullen's and A.J. Bombers. We always get the cheese curds! Always get the cheese curds! (Unless you have an issue with lactose or gluten, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that there's flour in the curd breading.) At the end of the day, the curd is almost center stage, and the portion is enough for 3-4 people, as an appetizer, in my opinion.
One negative is the parking lot. There have been 2 occasions where people drive far too fast, or seem slightly inebriated. I think speed bumps would be an awesome addition. My Auntie almost got ran over by some sweaty man in a Corvette. Don't be a sweaty old man.
PS- Their in-house root beer is very good! I can never seem to get an answer on if the root beer has caffeine or not. I'm hoping that someone will see this and make note to the employees. Otherwise, they do serve...
Read moreAll I get is a generic response. Wow. So disappointed. I see other responses to other guests are more in depth.
This was By far one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while. Please read below as to why its not anymore. I'd give a 0 star if at all possible.
My previous review [I've food allergies and they helped me to get what I needed and they truly cared about me. It was like I was family. What a great place to dine. I'll definitely be back. I wish I could give more than 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 yes the broiled fish is amazing.]
The last time I was here I was forgotten at my table. I had to go to the bar to get a glass of water. My server never brought me my salad. She sat down with her family and ate. When I did get my food it came loaded with butter. (I did ask the sever for no butter on my veggies and fish do to allergy) the person who delivered my food got her supervisor. The supervisor basically said they can't do that. I asked why not(I've been there at least 3 other times and ordered the same thing and no issue) she said they soak the fish in buttermilk on Wednesday and then on Thursday they soak it in buttermilk and Friday they cook it. I was a chef and I know for a fact that is untrue. Unless you are making a very nasty buttermilk butter fish soup. As you can see I wrote up a great review of when I went here another time I had the broiled fish and no problem. They then said i could get a frozen piece of fish in less then 15 minutes. Well thats a lie. Youd be at risk to get someone sick. I was leary. They brought it out in about 10 minutes. Either it was already thawed or they put me at risk for a illness. The supervisor said no you didn't we don't do that here. Ok. It was one of the worst services I've ever received. 😪 I haven't been back. I don't like being lied to. i don't even matter enough to get a non generic...
Read moreWe stopped in here after an event in Milwaukee and the three in my party were hungry. There are two craft beer options when heading to Madison off the interstate at Delafield. When I used google to search menus I was definitely gaining an appetite reading the great menu options offered by the Delafield Brewhaus. Our driver went the wrong way, which took us other place. But in reading their menu, it was not as interesting and he was fine with going a little further, maybe 2.5 more miles, to take us to the Delafield Brewhaus. It was worth it! It was 9:15 when we arrived and the kitchen was going to be closing soon. Bill, the assistant brewmaster behind the bar, made sure the kitchen knew an order was coming in. Bill was friendly and gave us a nice history of the brewery. I had ordered the loaded fries, and my friends ordered a plate of wings to share (mix flavors) and a side of fries. My plate of fries was SO HUGE it was for four - had we known the side of fries could have been skipped. There were really good. The beer was excellent - we had an limited spicey ale, award winning Hop Harvest IPA and a delicious year round Porter, also award-winning.
The building is beautiful, set up to host larger gatherings. The food and beer were great and we certainly enjoyed Bill's easy-going, attentive style. We will make a point to visit the Delafield Brewhaus again - which is a great spot between Madison and Milwaukee to meet friends from...
