Wanted to Love It, But The Food Was a Disaster
I was so excited to finally check out the new Voodoo Brewery. Delafield has been waiting for a place just like this, and walking in, I really thought we'd found our new go-to spot. The space is great—open, with a cool vibe and an impressive list of interesting beers. That, unfortunately, is where the good experience ended.
The service was painfully slow, but I was willing to forgive that, assuming they were just working out the kinks of being new. The real dealbreaker was the food. It was, without exaggeration, one of the worst meals I've had out in years. We ordered a pizza, and what came to our table was a tragedy. The bottom wasn't just well-done; it was a sheet of black, burnt carbon that made the entire thing taste like ash. It was completely inedible. To add insult to injury, they got the toppings wrong, using banana peppers instead of the bell peppers we'd asked for.
Hoping for redemption, we also tried the pork nachos. This was maybe the saddest dish of all. It was a plate of chips with what looked like three tiny, lonely strings of pork on top. Calling them "pork nachos" felt incredibly misleading. My burger was no better—a dry, flavorless patty on a bun. Just... nothing.
I love supporting local businesses, especially a new brewery in Lake Country. But I can't justify spending my money on food that is this poorly prepared and served with so little attention to detail. It feels like no one in the kitchen is paying attention. We left feeling completely ripped off and disappointed. Great concept, terrible execution. We will...
Read moreI placed a detailed review on Yelp and crickets from the Voodoo team, I placed a review on Voodoo and received an email from the Owner who overall wasn’t too concerned about our lousy food and service rather he fixated on hard his service team works. What he missed was two things “Service” and “Team” - neither exist at Voodoo. Proper training would be that plates, service ware and napkins accompany an appetizer. A chef, or good cook would check incoming ingredients (Brussels) to make sure they are not bitter before shredding for a Brussels Caesar salad (far under dressed as well. An owner hungry for business would be at the location day and night, stopping by tables to see how patrons like the service and offerings. Remember where you are - Downtown Delafield. Your rent is high but that doesn’t give you an excuse to add 3% to cover your business expenses. As a restaurant you already have your customers subsidize your staff thru tipping. Why wouldn’t you simply price your menu accordingly? Let’s see 18% for the server and 3% for the owner - that is laughable when no one else in town does it. Everyone pays processing fees for cards - it comes with the territory. BTW - when patrons post reviews on the Voodoo site where do they go? I can’t seem to find mine nor any that are negative. I had to come to Google Reviews to find quite a few that are very negative and all following the same theme - poor...
Read moreI’ve now been here twice since they opened. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes and were never acknowledged, moved to a table and were never acknowledged until after we ordered our beer on the QR code. Your beer will sit on the counter for 7+minutes getting warm, waiting to be served while servers and aimlessly walking around, chatting with each other and not doing much. The dirty tables take forever to get cleaned and it’s really not even that busy. Customers are cleaning the tables themselves so they can sit down. I’ve had to do this both times I’ve gone and I’ve now seen families with little babies doing it while no staff member offers to assist.
The service is slow and inattentive and how do you “run out” of pizza at 4:30 pm on a Saturday. If you are going to have a limited menu, that should have been posted. We were at there for multiple hours, planning on ordering a pizza, couldn’t get our server because the service was so terrible and then all of a sudden were told they weren’t serving pizzas that evening. After we just saw eat least 10 pizzas come out of the kitchen.
Additionally; they have a physical cocktail menu, but don’t have one for beer. The QR code is hard for the older generation to navigate. I had to help my older family members both times we went.
If this place wants to survive In Delafield, they need to make some serious...
