Dobro's Restaurant — Restaurant in DeLand

I just had to erase my good review from 9 mths ago so I can put an updated review in here and how I was just handled by an owner of the establishment. They lost my business. Today is 5-16-20 and yesterday I ordered take out from Dobro's and this is what happened. One, being that we are in a pandemic and just now starting to come out of phase 1, I noticed upon entry, not one of the workers in the dining room, or in the kitchen had gloves on OR a mask in dealing with the public for carry out. I bring my food home, eat it. I had the cobb salad and 8" Chicago deep dish pan pizza with pepporoni and sausage, onion and pepper and in the cobb salad it had chicken, bacon, along with the roquefort dressing. I don't know the exact time frame of 'how long' after did my stomach begin hurting and cramping but I did tell the woman on the phone when I called to complain that I had a case of food poisoning it was maybe 30 min? It was longer than that but I threw that out there. Before I get into that though, the salad with the bacon, it was not like bacon, but strips of 'fat' that was thrown all into my salad which I had to pick out because it was gross! The pizza itself look like it was way over cooked, the meat was burnt on the top of it and the crust also semi burnt looking. Back to the call. So I let the woman, who on my second call to her to ask 'who' she was, told me she was one of the owners with her husband. I began to tell her I had a case of food poisoning and she basically argued with me, treated me like I was lying and not once did she apologize to me for being in complete discomfort and cramping into the night and this morning still felt pretty nauseous. Her 'tone' towards me was very prickly and condescending and I felt like I had to actually defend myself to this person. Not a good experience at all. She was telling me that I did NOT have food poisoning and I said look, YES, it is... I have had it before! She almost made it seem like I was calling to get a refund which I had to tell her, I am calling to let you know that some thing in your restaurant is tainted. I am thinking it was the blue cheese dressing. It could have been the eggs? Who knows. But you do not TREAT your customers like this! I will never recommend them to anyone again and I will also be calling the health dept first...

We have been to this restaurant many many times....dating back to their old location as well, there is an older lady server there with glasses and long hair...she is probably the rudest and most miserable server that ive ever had to deal with at any establishment (fastfood included) we had her the last few times we have been and everytime its the same thing, rude with an attitude, we walked in and the owner was there...we saw the rude server and didnt want her...linz immediately asked the owner (who serves also) if she would be the one serving us, she said they all help out all the tables but she would definitely be around, my mother in law met us there to celebrate my son getting student of the month out of his entire school, we were also celebrating my new job, my mother in law wanted a small chicken alfredo so they were going to give her a kids...my daughter wanted the same.... as the server was walking away we decided that they could just get a full entree and split it...the server said "i already put it in" i left the establishment to put my ipad in my car and my wife decided that we didnt want to eat there (why pay for a horrible experience) she told the manager that as they were bringing the salads, my wife asked her to cancel the order and offered to pay for the drinks, the manager said that wasn't necessary, as my wife, kids, and mother in law were leaving...the manager said to the server that we said she was rude and thats why we were cancelling our order, the server yelled loud enough in the restaurant for everyone to hear (including my family as they were exiting the restaurant) that my wife "was a liar! And that she just asked if we wanted soup or salad) at this point my wife heard her and yelled "LIAR!?" The server called my wife a liar....Linz then yelled that we will never go to that establisment again and we would be writing a review. keep in mind we have had this same awful lady on at least 4 occasions! With all of that being said...

WE WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN OR SUPPORT THAT RESTAURANT IN...

02/14/23 Tonight is the first and last time I will visit this establishment. My fiancé/wife, nephew, and I visited this establishment for dinner. We ordered the special; 12”pizza, salad, and breadsticks. I ordered an 8” deep dish vegan/ vegetarian pizza for myself and my fiancé/wife also ordered shrimp stuffed mushrooms. My fiancé/wife loves stuffed mushrooms. To make the story short we waited a long time before being served, when my fiancé/wife received the mushrooms, she ate one, half way through the mushroom she was complaining to me about the flavor. She explained that she believe that it is the broth that it was cooked in and that she strongly disliked it. She wanted me to try it but I don’t eat seafood so I declined. She did not finish the mushroom and put it to the side. The dish comes with four mushrooms, she ate some of one. She told the server that she disliked the mushrooms and did not want the rest, the server took the mushrooms away and stated they will be removed from bill. The female co-owner then comes to our table and said that, because the issue was that she disliked the mushrooms, only 50% of the price will be discounted, as if we were trying to get one free mushroom or something. The situation was distasteful and being a “black” man, knowing how the world is, I always analyze every situation before I declare it prejudice or stereotypical, but us being the only people of color eating in the establishment, having to wait as long as we did for our food and then to be treated like we wanted one free mushroom. You will NOT ever catch me spending my money here again. This situation was a show of the lack of respect and the way the co-owner came to our table really made me feel like they thought we couldn’t afford our order, were lying or wanted one free mushroom. Honestly I feel like the chief is one who thinks he can do no wrong and that everyone has to love his cooking or else. That’s probably what the situation was but either way...
