I’m giving a 2 because the food was good but the customer service was horrendous! First you don’t know where to go to order and the young girls behind the counter were too busy conversing to care to tell someone. Then we asked after our order if we get a number or they take our name or how it worked and they said they’d bring it to us. So we stood around for a minute waiting for our drinks which never came so we sat down. Our drinks never came…. Food finally did and we said we haven’t gotten our drinks yet and they said oh they’re up on the counter….. so in my mind I’m thinking she’ll go get them…right…that’d be the kind thing to do considering no one else has come in after us so they weren’t busy…nope…. So I walk up there and I see two cups setting where I ordered but don’t take them because I’m not 100% sure they’re ours…. And the two young girls again are conversing as I stand there annoyed at this point and finally they said no it’s over there and pointed…I asked why no one told me it was ready and they just shrugged their shoulders and continued talking amongst themselves…. Then we finish eating and set our plates to the side since we were deep in conversation about business and one of the girls approach us and says snarking “so you know your plates go over there when you’re finished.” I said ok, we haven’t gotten to that point yet; we’ll do it on our way out and she spun around and said surprised “really” and stormed off…..I mean…. If you had the time to come over to say that…. Just kindly take the plates and thank us for dining with you…I mean what was that?! This place is ran by too young of a crowd to know common courtesy so I’ll never make the mistake of taking my clients there again; that was...
Read moreBig, open space with very atypical layout. First thing you are greeted with is a bus station full of nasty plates and dishes. Staff stares at you while you try to figure out what's going on. A tiny sign says scan here for menu, resulting in a list of about 6 choices. Bar food on whole grain. Where do you order? Well, that is in a corner past half a dozen empty, sterile display cabinets.
There is a bar hidden in the opposing corner.
Someone spent a lot of money to refurbish a giant space.... For what purpose is not clear. A Saturday, and there are maybe 10 people in a 2-story space with room for hundreds. Has all the feel of a odd tax write-off, or a failed interior designer that was told "go for it!" With zero function or...
Read moreWe stopped at Boxed and Burlap on our way home from a girls' trip to Lake Geneva, and what a hidden gem it turned out to be!
We arrived just in time for lunch, and I ordered the BLT—hands down the best I’ve ever had. The sourdough bread, creamy avocado, and flavorful garlic aioli took it to the next level. I paired it with a lavender lemonade, which was sweet, refreshing, and perfect for a summer day. For dessert, I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie—and wow, it was easily one of the best I’ve ever had.
The space itself was light, airy, and calming. It had such a peaceful vibe that made me wish I lived closer—this would be the perfect spot for a relaxing solo mom lunch. If you're in the area, don’t...
