I have heard many good things about Jonathan's, so I decided to treat myself to it last night. I have to say, it was the best food I've had. Every plate was so perfectly balanced & you could taste every flavor/ingredient used. I ordered an appetizer of Jumbo Scallops which were incredible and came with a very nice & light salad. My main entree was a cashew encrusted halibut, which had a citrus beurre Blanc and was very very good! For the starch, I chose rice pilaf which was cooked very well & paired nicely with the halibut. Lastly, for dessert, the bartender brought over a dessert tray where I decided on a slice of key lime pie and a strawberry cheesecake slice which I forget what it was called. Everything was incredible - the key lime pie & cheese cake were the best I've ever had. The bartenders were so wonderfully attentive & offered many great recommendations. I ordered a peach honey old-fashioned, and that also was incredibly delicious & smooth. To finish off the meal after dessert, the bartender asked if I'd like a coffee which I said yes to. The coffee was rich & smooth, and did not need any cream or sugar. The entire meal was astounding and frankly I'd never had this quality of service or food before. I will definitely be visiting again and it was worth every cent. I want to give my thanks to chef Jonathan as well as the wonderful kitchen, bar, and wait staff at Jonathan's because it truly felt like a one of a kind service they provided.

The mussels & Oysters Rockefeller were delectable. I ordered the fish trio & even though I was told the size before I ordered, was disappointed in the small portions. That being said, highly recommend the Chilean Sea Bass. You will not be disappointed in it's size or fantastic flavor. My husband ordered the 30 day aged bone‐in Ribeye for $80. He ordered it medium rare & received it medium well. He does not like to complain so did not send it back, however, this totally soured him on our first dining experience here (thus, the reason for a 4 * rating rather than 5 stars). French Onion soup is one the best I've ever had in my 52 years on this Earth. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his brandy old-fashioned sweets with olives. Waitress, Kat, was excellent. She had all of the specials memorized & very knowledgeable regarding wines. She even went to the basement to look for pear liquor for me (which they were out of). Definitely save room for their fantastic assortment of desserts!

Our server, Chloe, was unbelievable. There were more than half a dozen specials and she knew all of them with variations and costs. Friendly, upbeat, polite, perfect. Each appetizer and entree was fantastic. The scallop appetizer comes with 3 scallops but as a party of 4 they modified to make it 4. Meats were cooked as ordered - I like rare and that's what I got. Others went medium rare and medium - all met the request. My wife had the mixed grill which is a regular menu option. From that, the star was the Pork Tenderloin with Door County Cherry Port reduction. Whatever you order, you won't go wrong. Visited again and our server, May, was spectacular as well. My wife had the sheet rib special with sweet corn risotto - a-ma-zing. I had the seafood special with the different preparations, also very good. The wine list is nice. If you haven't tried the Mount Veeder Cab from Franciscan, you owe it to yourself.

We had reservations for a party of 14, set up on 2 tables. I know larger parties take longer, and we were ready to account for that. However, the experience was disappointing. First, the food: the escargots and cheese curds appetizers were 4 or 4.5 out of 5, flavorful and hot. Potato soup was served lukewarm and had to be sent back. For main courses, everyone who had fish said it was a homerun. Scallops, salmon and stuffed whitefish were deemed superb and those diners loved their choices. Steak, lamb and seared tuna salad were ruled good, but not worth the price. Pork dishes were complete strikeouts. All of them turned out too dry, although one diner ate his because the sauce was "amazing" over-ruling for him the dryness/toughness of the porkchop. The wine list is quite good and the prices are reasonable for a higher-end restaurant.

Where does my rating lose points? Customer service. The wait staff were great. They were patient, helpful and attentive. However, we had 6:30 reservations and did not get our food until after 8:30. It was 55 minutes from the time our order was placed to delivery of our meals. Even the waitstaff knew it was excessive. It appeared we were not the only ones experiencing unacceptable delays, as several of our party saw at least one table get up, leave cash on the table for their drinks and leave without eating. By the time our food came out at 8:35 (again, 6:30 reservations), the restaurant was probably less than 1/2 full. The kitchen closes at 9. By the time we finished our food, desert and paid the bill, we had been there almost 3 hours.

When we expressed our displeasure with the pork dishes as well as the ungodly long wait for our food, a man who I believe was Jonathan, came to the table. He was unapologetic, implicitly blaming us for the delays (we dared to order soups, salads and appetizers!). Some in our party considered his approach "confrontational," but I think "defensive" is a better word. He took the 2 unfished pork dishes so those diners could not eat any more (including their unfished side dishes). He removed 1 dish from the bill, but only half of the other dish since "you ate half of it." It was a very sour ending to what started as a hopeful family gathering.

If the waitstaff hadn't busted their butts (kudos to Lu and her coworkers) and if those in our party who had seafood had not raved about it, I would have given two stars. But fair is fair. And we tipped the servers based on their service, not the kitchen foul-ups.

As a tip to the restaurant: if Jonathan had just come out and apologized to the diners who didn't like their meals, admitted the delay was too long and promised to improve, all you would have had to do is offer a few complimentary deserts or maybe comp a bottle of wine and we would have left on...

What a gem! This place came highly recommended by several people and finally we decided to try it and I think it might be our new spot. Last minute reservation we got a 6pm high-top off the bar in a prime spot - still plenty of space to comfortably dine. From the awnings and patio furniture outside to the decor inside the restaurant looks and feels just right - I wouldn't feel underdressed in a pullover or golf shirt. The entire waitstaff is so friendly and happy to help and you can just tell that they really care. We sat at the bar and immediately knew a handful of people and started getting recommendations. I came for a filet but a friend said no get the seafood trio! If you like wine this is definitely your place - I found the selection robust and the prices approachable. The hustle and bustle of the restaurant was great and went strong well past 8pm which we loved but never reached a point where it was crowded or we couldn't reasonably hear each other speak -- it was definitely the place to be that night. Our server was fantastic and spaced our courses out perfectly. Nothing drives us crazier than when your entire comes 10 seconds after your soup - we were glad to see this was a non-issue. The French onion was absolutely out of this world, full of flavor. The coconut shrimp were comically huge and delicious - a great value! Finally the seafood trio was an absolute delight. The fish was fresh and not drowning in sauce, the vegetables were fantastic as were the red potatoes. I have to say the portion size was something that really stood out, I really got a full plate of food - something I really appreciated seeing. That carried over to the deserts - both portions were huge and the carrot cake was absolutely fantastic - it was like something fresh from a bakery. Overall the half-dozen or so recommendations proved to all be absolutely right - Jonathan's is a must-try! The owner and his wife both separately stopped by our table and were very kind. The atmosphere is just perfect. The food and portion size are both fantastic. Great establishment and wonderful addition to the community. We look forward to adding this to our...

The Slow Cooked Short Ribs were tender and had great flavor (would order again). The side vegetables (broccoli and squash) were good, the mashed potatoes have a great garlic taste, but the German potato wedge side was too sweet for a savory dish. The NY Strip was excellent with great peppery flavor and great charring and was juicy. The Day Boat Scallops were great. But sadly the Jonathan Shrimp De Jonghe appetizer tasted of ammonia when eating just the shrimp. Also the Baked French Onion Crock did not taste of deep onion flavor and was overwhelmed by the added seasoning. And the bread topping the soup was too chewey to enjoy the cheese topping. Seemed like it should have been less dense bread. The desserts were fantastic. The Bread Pudding was warm and welcoming with apple and caramel flavors. The Carrot Cake was excellent withe great carrot and spice flavor. The Terrimasu and the Creme Brule were excellent. The wait for the food was about one half hour, even for returned food (they overcooked the NY Strip). The server did not seem to be attentive and became noticeably flustered when mentioning anything about the food. We may consider a return trip to see if this was a fluke because we enjoyed the great entrees. But to the servers credit, we were not charged for the soups, and received a discount on one dessert because it was that person's birthday (she also put a candle on the dessert!). Overall a decent experience with some hiccups, but not the excellent top notch experience we were hoping for. We will look forward to a better...
