Me and friend were in the mood for Jamaican food. Walking in the restaurant had a decent vibe and the waitress Vicky seemed nice enough. We sat at the Bar I ordered Hennessy on the rocks and Corona. They were out of the Hennessy so I settled for the beer. Ordered Oxtails rice and peas and cabbage. The portion of oxtail was tiny and I commented about that to the waitress ( Can you bring me the rest of my oxtail when you get a chance) we both laughed it off. Apparently she must have passed that on to the cook. So although I was disappointed with the portion I proceeded to try the food. The cabbage first off was bland . It looked decent but had zero taste other than cabbage. Next the rice , bland as all outdoors and cold and finally I took a bite into the meat. Again Zero seasoning other than pouring oxtail sauce straight from the cheap bottle on the meat . I politely told the waitress I did not want it and she could take it back. Which she did. My buddy was still waiting on his but decided to cancel the order based off what he heard from me. As we were getting ready to leave to two cooks/ owners came from the back and questioned me about the food. I was embarrassed that a scene was being made about me not liking the food. So I told him to his exactly what thought , that the food was awful and I didn’t like. He said “ we’re not serving you anymore “ I was confused because the feeling was already mutual on that as far as I was concerned , I will tell you this … don’t eat there if you like real Jamaican food. If you don’t know better it probably won’t bother you. But if you Actually cook and know the taste of what it should be like you will probably get kicked out as well . At the end of the it by far was the worst Jamaican food I’ve ever had. And it’s the first time I ever sent food back Tasted like shit straight up. Definitely find...
Read moreFirst off let me start my saying that I am a first generation Jamaican- American from Brooklyn NY. I visited D&H August 20, 2012 with two of my friends one of which was born and raised in Jamaica. When we walked into to bar we were greeted by a very friendly & bubbly white bar tender. I ordered rum punch, she insisted that it was authentic rum punch. But I knew as she was making it that it wasn't. She was making the rum punch in cup like it was a mixed cocktail drink. Anybody that has had real Jamaican rum punch, knows that the punch is made days before hand with real fruit juices and wrey & nephew rum and then poured over ice when ready to sever. For food we ordered Jerk Pork as an appetizer. For entree's: stew chicken. curry goat roti and oxtail. As we were waiting for our food, I notice there was a small window that we could see right into that kitchen. The cook was using the MICROWAVE to re- heat food. Hoping that it wasn't our food he was re- heating, Our food came out relatively fast and the entree's came out before appetizer. The jerk pork was the WORST pork I have ever had in my life. The meat was soggy with slush’s of fat though out the dish cover in terrible jerk seasoning. The rest of the food was to say the least just plain terrible. The only thing that saved this experience was the friendliness of the bartender. The food is an utter disgrace and misrepresentation to the Jamaican culture and should...

UPDATE: 10/06/2023 - Added some more photographs from our visit last Friday. This place rocks and their jerk sauce is awesome. I've got three "other" bottles of jerk sauce in the refrigerator at home and none of them compare to this. It's not sweet, and just the right amount of spice. One of my favorites is the jerk pork side dish along with one or two of the beef patties. And it's always better when our favorite staff member, Jeannie, is the one bringing it to us. She does an awesome job!
UPDATE 06/30/2023 - Google asked me to update this review. No changes. Went there tonight with my son. Same great food and service. Reasonable prices.
UPDATE 04/22/2023 - Google asked me to update this review. Not a lot to update. The place still rocks, the lady taking care of us already knew our orders, etc. I can't imagine going anywhere else for Jamaican.
UPDATE: 02/11/2023 - Google asked me to update this. Still decent food and service. It's a nice, laid back atmosphere. I had several "meat patties" this evening with a couple rum and Cokes. I like them (the meat patties )because for me at least, they're low volume in terms of how much weight I put on with eating them. My son got the jerk wings with rice.
Great food and service and we were served...
