The order taking was really disorganized. Firstly the waitress didnāt offer us to start off with a drink. While everyone was ordering she was not asking what sides we wanted, she just wrote down the meal name, didnāt get your sides or drink, and moved on. It was not until someone expressly asked for coffee last minute as she was walking away, done taking our orders, that she went around asking everyone if they wanted a drink.
A lot of us said we wanted water, kind of like āsure why notā but turns out the water is a literal water bottle, and each one costs $2. No one on the staff told us this and it was not on the menu. Thatās pretty weird considering convention is free water with free refills.
When it was time for us to get our meals, several people did not receive their sides. When we brought it up to them, they said itās because āthey donāt have any more.ā Instead of telling us that they ran out and offering a replacement/substitute, they simply gave them incomplete meals as if they were normal. When we started eating, almost all of us agreed that the batter the chicken was fried in was way too salty. I thought mine was too salty to even eat and I literally had to scrape the fried part off the chicken to be able to stand eating it. I saw some other people at my table scrape the fried part too. After I did that though, I liked it and I finished my food.
I went with a group of a lot of people so I understand itās a lot to handle, but our food took a while to come out. We didnāt mind, but it was long enough to wonder what was going on, so if you have somewhere to be in the next few hours or youāre really hungry, maybe find somewhere else. Also I think their brunch menu was kind of expensive.
That said, considering the stuff I had to do to make my food edible and the long wait for the food, I wouldnāt pay the prices they ask again. If someone offered, Iād eat it because the food was pretty good after removing the saltiness, but you can get better meals and service at Applebeeās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a cook, I am highly dissatisfied with the quality of the meal. I ordered Brown Stew Chicken, rice & peas and Mac & Cheese. The Brown Stew Chicken was mid - flavoring was barely there. The rice was mushy and tasted like it had been a few days old. The Mac & Cheese was what set it completely off - the Mac was very, very clearly days old. The discoloration of top of the Mac was not a āoven burntā coloration, it was stiff - to the point where I tried to take a bite and ended up picking up the entire serving of Mac. I was warned before getting my food from family and friends of their similar experiences - they were proved to be absolutely correct, as well as having community members on social media share their experiences. I then took the food back and requested a full refund - informing the OWNER of my experiences and he was extremely disregarding, trying to put it back on my as to why I was wrong when it was evidently not the case. He tried saying the food was fresh and once again, as a cook and a person who loves food - I knew exactly what I was talking about. Mama Gās needs to completely revalue their food handling. I will be reaching out to the Health Department to do a full inspection to make SURE they are storing food and discarding food properly. Never, ever again will I order from this restaurant. Out of the entire team, the OWNER was the most disregarding - his employees were very understanding of my position. Fair warning, be cautious of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place was empty when I visited. This was my 2nd time since it opened!!
Unfortunately, this visit was not a good one by any means.
When I was waiting for my food to be packaged up... the young lady had gloves on that she was using to take money and pack up the food. My platter, which had fish, was sticking out of the syrifoam container and ahe just put it in the bag. So my food was touching the inside of the plastic bag.
Pro: Good service.
Cons: The shrimp was like tiny popcorn shrimp... š³ The green beans were under seasoned and well UNDER COOKED. The yams were a stringy pile of thin, soupy, less desirable sweet potatoes. And my potatoe salad was placed on the same container as my hot food.
This definitely WILL be the LAST time that I support this business.
It doesn't appear to put LOVE quality into the food as it EXPECTS the community to support them. I would NEVER recommend a soul to dine there. Honestly, I was embarrassed for the business.
I am very disappointed that I even spent my hard earned money in that place.
Unfortunately, DE doesn't have many choices of a real GOOD slap ya momma SOUL FOOD place to grab a decent platter from. You would THINK that ones that do exist would take PRIDE in their business, customer service, and presentation of food a bit...
