A shocking disgrace
As a world traveler I am always excited to try new restaurants with an authentic ambience.
We walked into Plaza Mexico restaurant and I got excited as the ambiance was incredible. Taking you into the heart of upscale latin america That is worth one star on the rating.
It is unfortunate that the owners of this establishment have taken so much time energy and money putting together something awesome - only to be drastically let down by the staff they have hired.
Our waiter "Ricardo" treated us as though we were inconveniencing him that he had better things to do. After taking our order we did not see him until the end of our meal someone else delivered our food and He left us without beverage for the remainder of our meal.
When he finally did return and replace my husband's drink after taking his cup and leaving for 20 minutes then returning printing off the receipt and shoving it at us as if to say "okay I'm ready for you to leave now get out" My husband asked me if I wanted anything else I replied that I wanted dessert Ricardo replied that they did not have any dessert that they haven't had any for a month because they hadn't been delivered.
We found it very bizarre which is why we called before we left the parking lot to place a pickup order for some dessert. "Absolutely! we have..." And then the person on the other side of the phone rattled off at least four or five desserts they had available.
In short Ricardo lied and as he stood there lying to us I remember the young women who are also working there, giggling.
It was incredibly unprofessional and infuriating and honestly now that I'm home we shouldn't have left him a tip. At all. He did not deserve it or earn it. My husband and I even looked at each other as we were leaving the tip w(have never left less than a 20% tip in the 7 years that we have been together.) And now we are so utterly disgusted after reading the reviews and being lied to and shoved off.
We want to return but the owner of this establishment needs to clean house and get some new employees. It should be easy enough with so many people out of work and looking for opportunity.
This is not the first time that someone has complained about the service and it will not be the last. We have seen service like this put businesses OUT of business. If this owner takes their investment seriously they should replace those who are not thankful for the opportunity to be employed. It is the hospitality industry after all, and Ricardo was anything...
Read moreLesson Learned. Will stick to the other Mexican Restaurant in Millsboro. The waitress was very unfriendly right from the start. She wouldnt even smile. Please remember that Entrees DO NOT come with any kind of rice or beans.. Its just a burrito or enchildas on a plate that looks half empty when its served. I didnt know to order a side with a enchilada so you get nothing. Every Mexican restaurant I have been to serves rice or beans on the plate. I did order a side of Sour cream @1.25 which was on the bill, but I never got. Ate our dinner(4 of us). No waitress to come by and refill drinks for over 30 minutes. Then we order desert because we are all still hungry. Desert comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream..Did we get the ice cream? NOT.. Had to flag down another waitress to bring it.BUT, she only bought 3, not 4 which is what we were entiled to..Oh..no spoons..5 minutes after trying to eat ice cream with a butter knife, waitress comes back..I ask for spoons. I didnt even bother asking for the other missing ice cream.. I did ask for a glass of water.. She comes back with a plate of SEVEN spoons??? NO water.... Wait 20 minutes for her to come back with the bill...I almost cried.. A lot of money for little food and really bad service. I paid the bill and graciously left 20%tip as I do everywhere.. Just know not...
Read moreThis place KNOWS how to serve up , surprisingly....... CHICKEN WINGS.... !!!! They were so CRISPY but yet JUICY on the inside... The way wings should be. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Every dish we had, which was the mixed fajitas and a seafood platter, were very well presented. The seafood platter, which contained shrimp and scallops were surprisingly HUGE and cooked to perfection. Everything we had and everything that was coming out of their kitchen for other patrons was served in ABUNDANCE.....!!! Their prices for all of their menu items and for all of what you got were very LOW....!!! YOU DEFINITELY GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH HERE.....!!!! In my opinion, they outdo that new AGAVA place up on RTE 1 which is OVERPRICED and VERY SMALL PORTIONS.....!!! The only thing this place is missing on their menu is "STREET CORN". Finally..... the AMBIANCE of this place, and the FRIENDLINESS of every staff member...especially the bartender, Ricardo..... was AWESOME....!!! So... in a nut shell... for very good Mexican food, and excellent pricing and a great ATMOSPHERE.....come here.... YOU WILL NOT BE...
