BEWARE: try this place at your own risk!!! When I pulled in the parking lot I was not impressed but over the years I have learnt that these little hole in the walls places are typically amazing!!!!! Well we were wrong!!! My kids and I are obsessed with Mexican food and we were super excited to see this place was highly rated and was super close to where we lived. We went in and this place is a complete joke......honestly didn’t even wait for the food to arrive it was that bad. We told them what we want to drink and they served us drinks from the convenient store connected to this place. That was one strike but not enough to run us away. I asked the waitress if we could get some queso to go with the chips and salsa and she told me twice it comes with the chips and salsa so I said ok. We ordered the food and we waited about ten mins when my son said, mom they never brought us our chips and salsa but the lady is just standing there talking to the other staff. I got up walked over and the waitress says “oh yeah. I will be right there” let me remind you that we were her only table. She brings over something that I have no clue what it was, I have been eating at Mexican restaurants for 30 years and never seen or tasted anything as disgusting as that. The chips and salsa showed up with 3 different kinds of salsa which i HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT WAS BUT IT LOOKED SCARY. The chips I think was covered in beans but not sure what the substance was laying on top. My kids were afraid to try so as the mama beAr i sucked it up and tried them. OMFG.......I immediately spit out into a napkin. The chips were literally hard as a rock and the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted and even after the waitress told me Two plus times cheese dip comes with them , it did not!!! Ok now i am getting upset!!!!!!!! The icing on the cake was when this chick finally took our order, unfortunately I couldn’t tell you her name because she was so unprofessional she never introduced herself to us . She just literally walked up and said what do you guys want? Ummmm ok, I was a little taken back but whatever the ratings are good so let me keep my mouth shut. The three of us ordered the same exact thing and she said after the third person stated what they wNtwd”OH I ONLY GOT THE FIRST ORDER” I was in such disbelief it took me a few mins to process. After she walked away my son said” mom I think they may be paying people for good reviews” it all made sense at that point!!! I think this place is making fake reviews or paying for fake reviews. This place is an absolute joke with the worst service you will ever experience. It’s a complete joke!!!!! Good luck if you end up...
Read moreParking is at a premium at the store front. They only have a few parking spaces. We parked across the street in the strip mall parking. This isn't my favorite neighborhood, so day trips are a must for me to be comfortable. This place has a smoke shop, cell service, groceries, and a restaurant all in house.
We came in during lunch and this place was jamming. This place is pretty small. We had a nice couple allow us to share their table. This place had the look that the food was going to be great. All of the plates we saw coming out looked delicious. The service was decent, on the slow end, but whenever we needed something we got it.
The don't have a bar here, so I ordered a coke, and later a water. The coke was in the glass bottle, which is the only way to do it for me. The water was cold and refreshing.
Guacamole was incredible....right at the top of what we've tried. You know I like it heavy on the cilantro. Chips.....fried hard, could hold any topping. They came with beans and cheese sprinkled on top if you say yes. I said yes of course. Delicious way to have your chips. Salsa....the green was creamy and not much taste wise..could use a little more cilantro or jalapeno in there. The orange colored salsa was also bland, but had some heat to it. I think this was choriqueso. The other salsa had a citrus flavor to it that I wasn't really into. The best way to do it....green on bottom, choriqueso on top and booyah!!!! These together are out of control good!!! I didn't stop mixing the rest of the way.
I ordered the Flautas: Four rolled tortillas crunchy with sour cream, lettuce, queso fresco, tomato, & avocado. Served with beans & rice. Flautas were chicken & fried hard. Exactly what I expect when I get flautas. They were excellent...not as good as Aureas...but a solid offering. I used my same dipping mix technique...loved it! The pinto beans were flawless...with a little chesse sprinkled on top. The rice was soft and fluffy. Easily the best I've had so far.
Momsy ordered the tacos. Three per order served roasted cactus. All tacos come with cilantro, onion, radish, lime, and a grilled jalapeno. You could mix and match the meats so she chose a chorizo, asada, and pollo asado. I tried them all of course. Chroizo was on point, perfect blend of spice. It wasn't the best we've had, but it was in the upper mid range. Asada was perfect!!! It was easily the top steak that I've tried. Pollo asado was again an amazing tasting taco. Best chicken I've had. The presentation for this plate was...
Read moreI was very surprised at the experience I had considering the reviews are overall pretty good. I'm not one to complain ever but I feel like right now I should
Ordered off GrubHub last night. We ordered an hour before they closed. I don't know if this has something to do with it. It shouldn't. It's not like we ordered 10 minutes before it close.
But the first thing we noticed was that our fries were missing with my kids chicken fingers.
Now the chips. First thing to mention is that there is no chips and salsa on the menu. You had to buy the chips and the sauce is separate. So that's what I did. I ended up getting chips smothered in refried beans. Soggy and wet. I couldnt eat them. No crunch. Just soggy. Not what I ordered.
I love Quesabirria tacos so I was really excited. I'm not a cook so I don't know exactly how these things work but it's like there was no seasoning on the tacos at all. It was just plain dry steak meat. VERY underwhelming.
The next part is the soup. I don't know if a few steps were skipped or what but it literally tasted like hot water. I could also see through it which I've never seen before with the birria soups. But it tastes like nothing. Then I pulled this thing out of it. I don't know if it was fat or what but it looked like one big clump of snot. It was disgusting. So that got thrown away too along w the chips
We were expecting refried beans with the enchilada. Turns out they were like baked beans or something. Could be our fault, I don't know. It was weird. I know they have the refried beans because my chips were covered in them.
I don't really have much to say about my girls enchilada. She said it was "okay"
So that's my experience. I don't know what happened and why it was like this. But I will never be getting food...
