I will preface this by saying I am so happy that we now have a sushi/hibachi place in rochelle. It was sorely needed and I hope that Yatta kills it!
I went on a Friday night and it was BUSY. I am a sushi girl - and was pretty disappointed at the selection of special rolls. Most of them have tempura shrimp which kind of ruins the point of the sushi (for me - I know others love it so I understand having a few rolls include it, but there were almost NO special rolls that don't include it!). I got the dragon roll which of course included tempura shrimp and was okay.. and the hot ladies roll which was one of the only raw specials, and was pretty good! Overall the quality was decent, fish did not taste too fishy, it was 7/10 fresh which is all we can ask for in a sushi place that used to be a rural pizza hut.
The vibe inside could be vastly improved but I understand it's the first week and tweaks will be made. I hope they can succeed enough monetarily to hire some more help to keep the sitting area clean on busy days.
I look forward to trying again and re reviewing when Yatta is a little more...
Read more(4/30/25) My wife and I have been waiting to try Yatta and finally did today with a carry out. We ordered the Crab Rangoon, winter, big daddy, and South California rolls. I've seen some Facebook posts commenting about the Crab Rangoon being a little skimpy, and they were. As my wife says, it was more wanton than filling. But it was also only $5 for 5 pieces compared to Omi Sushi being $8 for 4 pieces. I'd get the Crab Rangoon again without hesitation.
As a basic roll, the winter roll was pretty good, but oh my, the big daddy and South California rolls were incredible.
I'm surprised they list the South California with the basic rolls because it definitely belongs with the special rolls. And the big daddy, fageddaboutit. If you don't try it at least once you'll be missing out on a truly remarkable sushi roll.
Out the door was a little over $40 +a tip. I've spent more on sushi that didn't make me want to drive back across town to get more.
Apologies for the "after" photo of the big daddy roll. 😂
100% I'll be eating here again, but trying other rolls, and enjoying $1 a piece...
Read moreHusband and I got food here.. first time we ate here we got the yatta 2… the sushi roll was great but the steak made both my husband and I sick.. thought it was just that one day so we tried the food again and ordered something different.. he did the chicken and shrimp hibachi.. we didn’t realize the shrimp came with the tail on it and it was hard… the chicken was burnt and hard like it came from the end of the chicken… I got the noodles.. I expected lo mein but that wasn’t what came out.. I was still happy with the order thinking it’d be okay but when I ate them the noodles were overcooked.. very mushy and so slimy.. we also ordered the spring roll… it was a few very small pieces of vegetables and it was soggy.. as well as crab ragoons.. I’d say less than a teaspoon was placed in it but those were probably the best part in terms of taste.. husband feels sick again… it’s unfortunate but I’m happy others have had great experiences...
