Can we make “grilled cranberry walnut bread” its own food group?
I’ve been coming to Good Friends Café for over a decade, and I can say with confidence: it’s more than a breakfast spot, it’s a homecoming. Every. Single. Time.
This morning, I ate alone, but you wouldn’t have known it. The staff treated me like I was part of the family reunion they’d been waiting all year to host. Warm smiles, easy conversation, and that low-key superpower they have of making you feel like the most important guest in the room. Honestly, it’s the kind of kindness that stays with you.
As for the food? Let’s just say they don’t miss. I had the Chrissy’s Omelet, a dream combo of flame-roasted Fuji apples, onion, and goat cheese that somehow tastes like autumn wrapped in a cozy blanket. Add home fries (obviously) because they’re perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and basically what all other breakfast potatoes wish they could be.
And then, the bread. The grilled cranberry walnut bread is not just a side, it’s a scene-stealer. Thick-sliced, toasted to golden perfection, and somehow manages to be both hearty and slightly sweet. If I could pack it in my suitcase and take it home, I would. (I’ve considered it. No regrets.)
Whether you’re dining solo or with a crowd, visiting for the first time or your fiftieth, Good Friends Café makes you feel seen, fed, and cared for. It’s rare to find a place that hits the mark every time with both food and heart. This...
Read moreAverage food and atmosphere. Service good not spectacular. My issues were that this is a CASH only business in a time when most people only carry credit cards especially when traveling. Yes they have an ATM machine if you want to add on fees and risk your bank account being hacked. And, no real receipt so you can’t turn it in for reimbursement or tax purposes. Second, $3.50 for a cup of plain black Lipton tea is outrageous. It’s water and a tea bag! I paid $3.69 cents for 48 tea bags at the local Stop n Shop grocery. Talk about a markup for hot water. And this was only for in-house tea if you wanted a to go cup you have to pay another $3.50 per their menu. I didn’t find the food to be better quality than I could get most other places. I’ll keep exploring the area for better options. I think offering to go with their coffee and tea would go a long way if charging such high prices. Also as a vegetarian I was concerned that the hash browns might have been cooked with meat or on same grill. Ask before ordering if it will bother you I decided not to ask after the fact as I don’t...
Read moreWent here with my bachelorette party of 6 for a walk in breakfast on a Saturday morning. Had a 30-40 min wait . Not bad for a decent size party walk in! They have a beautiful deck where you're allowed to have your coffee while you wait for your table inside. The deck made the wait very enjoyable.
But this review is truly about the food and our wonderful server, Meg. Immediately, i thought this woman is so sweet and genuine, had the prettiest and kindest smile, offered to take a group picture for us and got all of our orders correct.
The food was phenomenal! You have to get the grilled specialty breads! Holy hell! A huge texas toast size piece of delicious sweet bread. I also go the corned beef hash eggs Benedict. Listen, i get this corned beef hash every time i go out for breakfast and this one was by far one of the best i’ve ever had! They know it too because it is featured on their menu.
All in all, it was such a delightful experience at this...
