I was expecting a lot but was severely disappointed. I planned a date night with my wife and was excited about the prospect of eating on the beach. There’s no mistake, the outdoor area is spectacular and you couldn’t ask for a better location. Unfortunately, I feel like there’s something wrong here. I noticed that my wife and I were dismissed almost as soon as we were asked if we had a reservation. We were seated outside, which was great and the weather couldn’t have been better. It took a while before seeing our waitress, which was odd considering that other, older and more well-off looking customers got seated after us, had the specials read to them, got bread, and got appetizers before we saw our waitress. When we did first speak with our waitress, we were asked if we were ready to put in drink orders. Which was odd, other customers were told about the specials and offered bread before that point. The chowder came out and it was separated. I’m not a chef so I have no idea how that happened but it wasn’t smooth, nor did it taste very good. I had to ask for bread, and when those pucks came out we were disappointed again. They were not fresh, which is when I started to believe that the chowder had been reheated, which might explain the separation. Our entrées came out, and again we were severely disappointed. I had the seafood pastry with risotto. The risotto was over cooked for sure, the pastry tasted off, and the sauce looked deflated, again like my meal had been reheated or frozen. The same could be said about my wife’s meal, which she described as tasteless. I’m not sure what is going on here but typically when there’s this many problems the issue...
Read moreThe place had a very early 1900’s vibe. We sat outside with an ocean view. Live music was nice but it was only from 2-5pm so we didn’t get to enjoy it for long as we arrived right before 5pm. The restaurant is part of the inn and at times I felt like I was crashing the inn’s guests’ vacation - like when pulling in to park (which is primarily on the grass) the guests were meandering about and I worried we were going to hit them as they seemed oblivious to cars coming in - and the fact that families were enjoying the grounds and the beach felt like we were in the wrong place. The restaurant’s location was not immediately obvious. When we arrived at the podium to be seated, we waited for the host in a fancy-looking dining room while an adult guest walked around in wet trunks and bare feet (again, lending to the feeling we were invading someone’s space). From our table I could see more than a dozen parasails down West Dennis Beach. That was cool. The food was just OK - a descent baked stuffed haddock on puff pastry that included blah rice and maple glazed carrots that were not cooked (although the artichoke dip with garlic toast was quite yummy). I’m giving it three stars because there was nothing special about it to make us want to go back. We were looking for a waterfront place to dine and wanted to try something new (to...
Read moreDo not be fooled by the location—it’s the only thing this place has going for it.
Service? Zero. Food? Tasteless. Prices? Absolutely not worth it. We lasted 42 minutes before escaping and had to go elsewhere just to keep my birthday from being completely ruined.
They moved my Friday 6:30 pm reservation “downstairs” because of a wedding upstairs. What they don’t tell you is that “downstairs” looks like an abandoned employee lounge: musty, outdated, and mismatched tables and chairs, some set, some not. Honestly, they’d be better off refusing reservations altogether than trying to pass this room off as a dining space.
The hostess couldn’t be bothered—told us to “sit anywhere” from across the room and acted annoyed every time we asked for anything.
The food was an even bigger disaster. My stuffed haddock with risotto had zero flavor. My husband’s osso bucco was equally bland. I actually had to add salt just to eat it—something I never do at restaurants. Drinks? Undrinkable.
$150 for the worst dinner we’ve ever had on Cape Cod. This place is rundown, mismanaged, and staffed by people who clearly don’t care. Prime location wasted. Avoid...
