My husband and I were driving by and saw that this place was very busy, so we thought it was a popular hot spot with great food. Well, we were quite disappointed, to say the least. Our first impression was of the sticky/dirty picnic tables which were in need of a good scrubbing. Our waiter, however, (I forget his name) was amazing - very attentive and accommodating. To start with, we ordered drinks. I ordered an iced tea, which came unsweetened and I asked if they had sugar packets or some sort of sugar or sweetener. He said they might be able to find some cooking sugar somewhere, which apparently they didn't have. He offered to give me some pink lemonade to add into my drink to sweeten it, which I accepted. Now, onto the "meal"... The food we received was barely edible. My husband and I split a hot dog special that was listed on the board. It sounded good by description, but was quite honestly disgusting. I took 2 small bites and I was done. My husband, who will eat almost anything, thought it was disgusting as well, but ate his hot dog and part of mine so as to not waste money, because that's just how he is. The hot dogs were bottom-of-the-line quality, smothered in large slices of cold jalapenos (was thinking they would be chopped smaller), and drizzled with Sriracha sauce - which was expected. The French fries, which neither of us could eat, came with the meal and were hard and clearly not made fresh and came from a mass-produced frozen bag. We also ordered onion rings, which were also clearly from a mass-produced frozen bag. My husband ate about half of the onion rings, and I did eat a couple of them, but was overall extremely disappointed in the quality of the entire meal,...

Came here to eat dinner and when ordering my friend informed our waitress that she was allergic to shellfish, which was directed of us on the bottom of the menu. The waitress did not write any information down and after about 5 minutes she returned, asked again what we had ordered, asked what allergy my friend had, and only then informed us that the appetizer she ordered was cooked in the oil used for all the seafood, so my friend ordered a grilled cheese. After the wait for our food, we noticed the grilled cheese she ordered came with fries, and we decided to ask if the fries were also cooked in the same oil since there was limited kitchen space and obviously, fries are cooked in oil. A different waitress told us that the fries AND the grilled cheese were cooked/fried in the same oil as all the shellfish sold at the restaurant. My friend was informed that only salads and selective pizzas were out of touch of shellfish, and she got a salad after another wait. Our original waitress was extremely unapologetic about potentially sending our friend to emergency services, instead laughing and joking around with other workers and avoided us for the rest of our time there. If you have a food allergy, be aware that eating at this restaurant could send you to the hospital or literally kill you depending on...
Read moreWe came to The Sandbar in Cape Cod excited to relax and enjoy some drinks, but unfortunately, the experience fell flat. We ordered Painkillers—classic tropical cocktails that are supposed to have a noticeable rum presence. What we received were overly creamy, bland drinks that clearly had no trace of alcohol.
We went back to the bar and politely let them know the drinks didn’t taste right and asked if they could be remade or fixed. Instead of remaking them, they handed us each a rum floater to pour in ourselves. Not ideal, but we appreciated the attempt to make it right—until the check came and we saw they charged us $2 extra per drink for the floaters they gave us to correct their mistake.
To make matters worse, the entire staff seemed to be high school or college-aged—which is totally fine—but they were clearly not trained on how to behave professionally in a family-friendly setting. While we were sitting nearby, we overheard them loudly chatting about their wild weekend hookups and other personal stories that were definitely not appropriate for a public workspace, especially with kids and families around.
Overall, between the poorly made drinks, being charged to fix a mistake, and the unprofessional atmosphere, we left disappointed. Definitely won’t...
