Prices are not bad, but immediately I noticed a weird odor in the restaurant which made the food seem unappealing. Their booths are very uncomfortable, seats torn up and duct taped. It is pretty clean inside of the restaurant though. I ordered "everyones favorite" which was scrambled egg, "hash browns" that were more like home fries, with diced ham, onion and green pepper and shredded cheese. and served with green chilli. It sounded very flavorful but was very disappointing. The portion size was large, but it had more potato than anything and very little egg or meat. The green chilli was very lacking in flavor as was the egg dish. I'm not sure why but it just had no real taste and everything was very dry. Also, the bread they use for toast was very cheap and they drench it in fake butter. The service was also not great, our waitress never came to check on us after she delivered the food and we had to go find her to ask for hot sauce. There might be other better dishes to order but I don't think I would return here. Also FYI they...
Read moreSwift's is just what I expect from a 50 year old homey diner on West Colfax. Do they have a website? No. Do they accept credit/debit cards? No. Do they have good portions, cheap prices, and crispy bacon? Yes! I went in with zero expectations, which is probably why I was so pleasantly surprised.
The boyfriend and I went right before noon on a weekend and it was packed. It got even more packed by the time we left, with about 3 groups of people waiting for one of the 20-ish tables to open up. You can tell they have a lot of long time regulars; the servers were greeting people by name. I got the Everybody's Favorite, which was smothered in green chili. It wasn't spicy but had several good chunks of pork in there, so I was pleased. The server kept my boyfriend's coffee cup full so he was pleased too. I'm glad to have several of these little hole-in-the-wall places in my...
Read moreMy favorite everyday breakfast spot! I’ve been going to Swifts for breakfast almost every week for the past few months. I stumbled upon it after running some errands nearby one morning, and instantly feel in love with the food and the people. The entire staff is very welcoming to both groups and solo diners, and I often feel even more comfortable than I would be eating at home.
The food is your classic eggs, hashbrowns, bacon/sausage, toast, and pancakes. They also have steak and eggs and breakfast burritos that are supposed to be amazing as well. The thing I’m always impressed with is how consistent the food is. Some places you’ll have good and bad days… but here my food comes out the exact same way every time 👌.
If you want a down to earth breakfast spot with great food - ran by amazing people who genuinely care about their customers, Swifts is the...
