La Cabaña Mexican Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Des Moines

Well place was clean I'll give them that. Asked server if we can order from lunch menu and was told we could. ( I'll get to that part little more in the review) orders the super tacos which said fried torts( was expecting taco like tasty tacos. Menu said lettuce cheese and tomato with choice of chicken or beef. Opted for one chorizo and two chicken. Asked no tomato. Waited for about 15 min. Got food. Was hard shell fried. Big let down. Tacos had grilled peppers which menu did not state that it came with. Not a fan of those. Chorizo was burnt and very unedible. Only ate rice. Did get my meal taken off from the rest of family. Got bill and noticed the prices were higher than what menu said. A woman working there said that's for lunch only prices. advised here the menu should reflect that or advise customers ordering on lunch menu will be higher In price for dinner. Woman kept saying it's on menu saying that and I kept trying to show her it does not say that all. Then she explains no other restaurants have the same price for dinner with lunch. And kept telling me it's on the menu to inform customers ( WAS NOT ON MENU) Last was very disrespectful and rude as ever! Never again eat there. One gentleman did come out of back door from kitchen and asked if everything was ok. He was only one that looked like he was more concerned then the lady was. Food in all was mediocre at best. Wife beef burrito tasted watered down seasoning on it....

I had a take out order and asked for salsa and chips and the lady said they don't give out the salsa and chips. They had bags of chips and containers of salsa behind the counter so not sure what the deal was? I was tired after a workout so didn't feel like arguing or asking her why. I've been to the place several times with friends and ate inside and the food and service were good. Of course, salsa and chips were brought out to the table. Probably won't go back though after this experience. Plenty of other Mexican places around here that are similar. It was an $18 dinner that I ordered at the register and I gave her $20 cash and let her keep the change. Fairly disappointed as this was the first time that has ever happened to me on a take out Mexican food order. I get it times are tough for small businesses but have had like $15 dinners recently at other places and they included the salsa and chips. If they have a minimum order expectation to get the salsa and chips that's fine; would have liked to been given that information when I ordered. So, I wouldn't recommend takeout if you're looking to get complimentary salsa and chips...

It’s an OK place. Food is OK. Ordered a nacho supreme & the waiter asked if I wanted chicken or beef. Told him beef and got nachos with chicken & beef. They were nice to remake the nachos which was cool but then after I asked for fried ice cream to go & he smiled and nodded like he heard me. I get to the car & it’s rice. He aid he thought I said rice. How do you get rice out of fried ice cream? Had to go back in & have them fix it. Not a great first experience.

Update: just got home and sat down to eat the fried ice cream. It’s freezer burned all throughout. Tastes old. Never going back to this place.

Update: despite the owners response I will leave it as a 1 star. If your menu states one thing then the staff should know that & not provide options & then delivery the wrong thing. Also this does not excuse the freezer burned ice cream I took home. Thank too for the response. Have a...
