This place looks nice inside as it recently opened and is newly remodeled, but upon entering it feels cold, uninviting and unfriendly. Bad vibes. The first time I visited was the last. I apparently entered through the back door and a man sitting by the door dressed in a black suit started yelling "You have to pay to come in here!" I explained that it was my first time there and I wasn't sure which door to enter. Without apology, he promptly escorted me to the front where two huge goons dressed in black Tshirts and jeans started yelling how they had to check my purse I told them they should decide who would make the request because it was intimidating for two 300-pound plus guys to be yelling at a newcomer about her purse and grabbing for it simultaneously. They wanted a $10 cover although my name was supposed to be on the guest list. They said they had no guest list. It went from bad to worse. Service was bad. Drinks were worse, overpriced and watery. Music was mediocre. They had some woman singing who could barely carry a tune. Ugh!! It was painful! I tried to talk to the owner, a prison guard, (no kidding) about how bad my experience was, and he also was unfriendly. He gave me a diatribe about his problems with running the place. I was there to see a friend play, and they had no food because of a previous health department issue. So I had to leave to get food. I'll never go back there. My friend, a well-known blues artist, refuses to play or visit there again because of the conditions. I have since heard from other blues lovers that they witnessed a fight there with women rolling around on the floor. They also will never return. It's just awful! Save your time and money and go elsewhere. This is not a place for decent...
Read moreA friend was having a party here on a Sunday night. I found out last minute that I wouldn’t be able to make it. I contacted the restaurant to request to purchase a bottle of wine and some appetizers to be sent to their table. **this is not an unusual request! I’ve done this many times at many different establishments! However, the request was treated as if I asked them to find and cook brontosaurus eggs. I was informed that I could have only done that thru their catering menu ahead of time. When I asked if the party had ordered from catering or were they ordering from the menu. She told me they were ordering from the menu. But since I wasn’t in the building I could not order anything for them, and before I could say another word, I was hung up on. I try very very hard to patronize and support black businesses, however, this type of treatment when it come to customers who are literally trying to give you money is so discouraging. I was truly looking forward to trying out this establishment, but, my enthusiasm has definitely soured. I doubt I’ll...
Read moreI was so disappointed on my 50th birthday. I called early part of June reserved a spot off the dance floor for 30 people for June 23, the young lady asked me if I wanted a table or booth I said table. I called 2 days in advance to confirm reservation and if I get a spot for 35 people instead of 30 the young lady said she did not have anything else available but if I get there at 4 something may be available. Saturday we arrived at 4 only spot reserved for me was a booth that may sit 10-15 people depending on their size. I spoke with the manager and told her I was suppose to have a tables for 30 people not a booth, she stated they cannot hold spots for that many people. I asked her why wasn't I told that when I made the reservations and confirmed the reservations she could not answer the question and apologized. AT THAT POINT AN APOLOGY WAS NOT NECCESSARY. I had to cancel my party because it was not enough room for my guess to sit. I would not recommend this place for anything especially if you are planning a...
