Detroit Breakfast — Restaurant in Detroit

This past Saturday March 1st 2025 I dined in at Detroit Breakfast for the 1st time. My parents had been there several times and have been raving about it, so I had to give it a try. Let me tell you they did not disappoint. I ordered Salmon Croquet and blueberry waffles which came highly recommended. First of all let's start with the waitress Ms. Yolanda: her personality, warmth, and kindness was unmatched. I felt like I was sitting in my grandma's kitchen. When my meal came out I asked for some butter, Ms. Yolanda said taste it first, so I did, say less no butter was needed. This blueberry waffle was so buttery, soft, light and fluffy with a slight crunch just like I like it. The blueberries were so fresh, I honestly didn't need the syrup, but a little syrup never hurts. Lol. The Salmon Croquet OMG brown and crispy on the outside, soft, chewy, and seasoned to perfection on the inside. U can see and taste the fresh salmon, and the fresh veggies in the croquet. The clincher: I asked for some sauce to top off my salmon croquet, they normally don't have any they serve. But then the chef Ms Nikki herself came out and asked me did I like the sauce that is normally used for fried green tomatoes I said girl yes stop playing. Sis went into that kitchen and came out with a homemade remoulade sauce for my Salmon Croquet and baaaaaaaabbbbbyyyyy it was amazing. I was impressed, chef was the sweetest, kindest, most humbling chef I've met. My entire experience was everything!!!!!!! She's even going to put the sauce on the menu 😉😉 you're welcome y'all. Lol. I even took a bite of mom's catfish honey listen if y'all don't run to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. I ordered the catfish and grits... The fish looked like it may have been tilapia or something. Catfish ends are curled when fried. Did not have a welcoming environment. The guy in the wheelchair did not great me . Every .. and once he finally came to take my order he gave me facial expressions as if my questions were stupid .. it was my first time here, visiting from out of town. It was very cold inside the place too. But once I got my food they checked on me several times .... I hate that they use farrakhan's qoute regarding blk ppl not supporting. Sir your gonna have to give better service and not switch out the fish to a cheaper fish in order to get more support. I hope...

All 5-Stars for me. The Owner, The Chef, The Waitress they were all very attentive and kind. And you can tell they are good people and come from good stock.

The Food was excellent tasted like it was made right out of the kitchen (Of Mom's House)

You know how some food has that restaurant taste. Not here! Tastes like home for sure.

The Pancakes was solid good flavor. The toast was perfectly toasted. The eggs were seasoned. And the hashbrown was very tasty as well.

Don't know where some of these reviews are coming from. They sound crazy to me! I think some people are hard to please.
