This was the ONLY place me and my husband liked going to because it reminds us of Texas food. I typically order the soup. Today I ordered the claim soup and to my surprise, it had the shells piled to the rim. I was super excited because I had it before....super yummy. I started removing the shells and that's just it, THE SHELLS! NO MEAT. Where are the claims? So, I was chill because probably they ALL fell to the bottom, right? This time the soup was different. The flavor was there but there were hardly ANY veggies. Because I cleared everything before I fived in to the main event, the claims. I started stirring the broth around in anticipation for the claims. NOTHING! So, still hopeful, I put the rest of the Cilantro and onions in the soup along with some picante and started drinking the broth. Sip by sip. As the broth started going down, still nothing. I drunk every drop of broth that was left and nothing. ATP, I'm explaining to the waitress that there were no claims and all she could say, "but potatos?". Yeah, one mess up like that kills the whole vibe for me. Sad part about it was my husband stepped out of his comfort zone and ordered a dish with shrimp and garlic and peep game, the shrimp looked overcooked, like ew. The "homemade chips?" I guess that's what you want to call them were drenched in greese, no flavor, no NOTHING! White rice?????? What are we doing here? And some Romain lettuce with two slices of oranges on top. Mamma mia. Who is in the kitchen? They fell off. I still love the staff. But yeah, yuck. Oh, and they threw mad lumps of garlic in-between the precooked shrimp cocktail 😂 like you cannot...
Read moreOne of the worst food experiences I've ever had. We were placed at a four seated tabled in a corner when we had five people. I would understand if it was busy, but there were only two other tables taken. She took our drink order and disappeared for atleast ten minutes. When she came back we asked to move because of how cramped we were. We were placed at a larger table which had ripped chairs.
As we waited another ten to fifteen minutes for our waitress to take our order, there speakers bounced between producing a static noise and a high pitch ringing. Our drinks came and were warm tap water, a quite gross margarita that was also warm, and two mangonada. We only ordered one mangonada so we told her and she said "That's fine. Keep it." When the bill came, it was on the bill.
When she came with our food, she forgot to give us utensils and napkins. The food was okay, but we were missing the sauce for our tacos and even after asking two times we never recieved it. The beans, rice, and chicken tacos were not good so we asked to exchange them or just send it back and get comped. She said it is what was on the menu and that's what I got so we would have to pay. Took about another 20-30 minutes to get our check.
Also the bathrooms are unkept. There was toilet paper all over the floor, the floors were gross, and the seats were loose and crooked.
Definitely not coming back. Honestly wish I could...
Read moreThe food was soooooo good! It's authentic Mexican cuisine
I got 3 tostadas for $4 apiece. One with chorizo, one with pulled chicken, and one with beef. The pulled chicken was my least favorite; I think it could have used a bit more flavor, but it was still really good! The beef was my second favorite. The beef was cooked to perfection and in bite sized pieces so I only made a small mess of myself instead of a huge mess. My favorite was the chorizo. The chorizo had a bit of a kick, but nothing that would make you need a sip of water after every bite. The tostadas came with a side of salsa, but it was too spicy for me. My husband got the same salsa with his food and drizzled it all over, though, so maybe it's just too spicy for me and not someone who grew up on Mexican food!
The restaurant was loud. I went on a Sunday night and they had live music. I wouldn't have minded if they had turned down the mic a few notches so I didn't have to practically shout across my high top to talk to my husband and brother-in-law
Our waitress spoke Spanish, so I was a little (a lot?) out of my element, as I only speak English, but my husband is bilingual and he ordered my food for me, so everything...
