So let me start by saying CASH ONLY! Now let me get into my story. I walk in and could instantly tell this was a pretty authentic. I was just about to order when I then saw the "cash only" sign. Kind of irritated I asked the owner where the nearest ATM was, and she gave me some crazy direction. I instantly thought to myself I'm not going to the ATM and then coming back, but just for curiosity I asked the manger why she doesn't have a credit card machine. She said there are 3 reasons. I'll save you the lecture but by the end I told myself I will never eat here. First, she was super belittling. Saying that I was a kid and didn't know any better. I'm 23 years old and ya I know I'm young , but I'm not your son. I'm a customer. Second, she explained how either I'm (speaking about her self) or you will have to pay the fee. I don't understand why I should have to inconvenience myself to buy your food. The social norm is the business pays for the fee. Third, she tales about how she doesn't want the government tracking her money. That just makes me feel like your avoiding taxes.
I love immigrant business (my father is an immigrant business owner) , authentic food, and an old fashion style. Saying all that the minimum you could do is have a credit card machine or put an ATM in the store. Also, don't belittle your customers. I don't care how many years the restraint is open. You don't know everything. I'm gonna be excited when the business goes to another owner. I will definitely come back after that. For the mean time I'm going to Evie's. they have great food, service...
Read moreI got the pork tamales, with the salsa on the side. Chefs kiss 😙🤌🏼Was going to take a pic of the tamales but they were gone to fast, gave some to my babys teacher, my grandmother, my kids, me and my husband lol. Everybody was licking they fingers. I came here after searching the city for homemade tamales I got a couple months back. I couldn't find them for nothing, so I'm so happy that I found this place instead!!! I met two wonderful ladies who put they foot in them tamales. I ate one to test it, because I was trying to find the place I had previously bought them from. All's I can say, is forget the last ones, these ones are the GOAT. Mrs. Susie and Mrs. Maria have gained a little family of clientele messing with me. 🥰❤️ These ladies are funny, inviting, honest, and have a real passion for the food they make and serve. Today was a great day already but got 10x better after...
Read moreI usually come to this restaurant for my tamales because they are very good but today when I came in I ordered a dozen regular tamales. Half of the tamales were delicious but the other half were very spicy. When I called to let them know I'd received spicy tamales, he told me it was impossible because they're made and bagged in different areas and how many thousands are made etc., etc. All I know is there were 2 different kinds of tamales in my order which wouldn't have been a problem...if I wanted spicy. I told him I was bringing them back and he STILL was insisting it was impossible that the bag was mixed. I was ready to take them back but after speaking to this guy, I didn't even want to go to the trouble of having to argue with him once I got there. The tamales that I did eat were enjoyable but their customer...
