Toney Island — Restaurant in Detroit

Never again Never again. I am so disappointed in my service here. Now I knew there would be a wait because it is a new place and all but what I experienced was ridiculous. We pulled in the drive thru and was able to order our food after a 20 minute wait. There were about 7 cars ahead of us at the time. We ordered 2 burgers asked for potatoe skins they didn't have any so just switched to fries (one with Chilli and cheese with bacon and the other a plain fry) Ok fine no problem. Waited an addition 30 to 45 minutes just to get to the window to pay gor the food ok thats fine too. We pay for the food and sit at the window for about 10 minutes and she ask me to pull up and out the way and someone will bring food out. We wait another 30 minutes waiting for this mystery person to give us our food while we watch car after car get service and no one has come out. So finally we get out the car and go to the door to find out what's going on and they have someone at the door to keep it locked. He took the receipt and takes it to the counter and thats when we find out our order was not done. HOW CAN YOU LOSE MY ORDER IN THE DRIVE THRU! A very simple order at that! So now we wait an additional 20 minutes for our food. I kid you not I am being so nice about the wait times we had. At this point I'm not even hungry anymore. No apology for losing the order . Skip the fact we had been waiting all that time. Absolutely didn't f n care at all. I will never walk foot in here again. Food was subpar. Burgers were soggy which I don't understand why after all that wait they should have been fresh. Chilli cheese fries was terrible. The Chilli wasn't even warm enough to melt the slice cheese they put on top. Also the forgot the bacon on top as well. NOPE ! NEVER AGAIN! They need to fix customer service already. And food could have...

I wanted to come and support Tone Island. I knew that service might be slow because they just opened. I came with patience. I will say that the customers are very rude to the employees which creates a hostile environment. This is NOT the restaurant fault but observing a hostile environment does damper the experience. However, the security and the cashier were polite. My husband explained to the cashier twice and clarified exactly what he wanted in his order. We ordered a Tone Dog, Turkey dog, and chili cheese fries. We tried to order something quick, simple, and easy. Unfortunately, they messed up our order and gave us fries with cheese and left out the chili. My Turkey dog was good but I am a little skeptical if that was actually Turkey or if it was pork (I don’t eat pork). My husband liked his Tone Dog and overall supports Tone Island.

I do understand why our order was messed up. They do not have a speaker box so we had to talk very loud to the cashier through the bullet proof glass. By not having a speaker box the cashier has a hard time hearing us do to the noisy background that is behind her in the kitchen. I wrote this review to hopefully make some positive changes for this restaurant moving forward. Overall, it does have the potential to be a good coney. With a couple more features (speaker box) to improve communication, I can see this coney lasting for the years.

P.S Drive thru was not in operation when my husband and I visit. It would of been helpful if they had a sign saying that drive thru is not available...

The food is really good it gives me that 90s late 00s when the coneys was authentic lmbo. Shout out to Tone Tone Tone Tone for (Tony Island) to the cook and the lady who took my order. To all my Eastside fam who haven’t been. Let me say this and those that know me. Know I’m a very picky person when it comes to food. Y’all the food is good AF! The presentation perfect. Every thing is fresh and not frozen. The wings was saucy (blazin bbq) “GOOD” the BURGER 😋😋 wish I got TWO of those the fries was good. (EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS)It was worth the drive and time.
