When there was NO line; I should have known_there was an issue. However, I ignored _that_ "red flag;" I went in anyway. 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️ BAD IDEA. The food had my car smelling like _Lighter Fluid_ by the time I made it about 50ft away. Yet & still; I kept it. Lighter Fluid smell usually means UNDER COOKED. Surely enough the chicken was not done. Also, "GLORIA" must have given them that WACK-A-RONI & Chz. too; because she DEFINITELY gave them the Greens. Its SAD to say : "WE" just_are NOT_ the people we once were.🤦🏾‍♀️🙌🏾😫 But🤷🏾‍♀️ THATS what *I* get for going somewhere to get something to eat. I KNEW BETTER!! I KNEW "WE" cant cook anymore, & I had BEEN STOPPED trying these fake "SOUL"_ food restaurants ---- because--- "WE" just AINT the same no more. On SO MANY LEVELS. EVERYBODY just wants to CUT corners& hurry up & HALF DO everything.. Meanwhile, you have to have a HEART to cook "SOUL" FOOD...because a RIGHT HEART wouldnt ALLOW you to sell ppl some MESS that you just SLAPPED together. That's the SOUL part. Not HALF DONE BULLCRAP tasting food EUGH man!!! Come ON!?!. LIKE.... "DO BETTER."

I order rib tips and two orders of so called fried corn, yams and peach cobbler and rib tips. Worst meal I ever had. Let start with the fried corn since I order an extra side of it. Who put carrots, and other stuff in fried corn which wasn’t fried. Rib tips salty, peach cobbler tastes like it came out of a can. Smh the best this was the yams. Then I called and talked to the manager he told me I should have asked what’s in it. I know when you say fried corn it’s corn not corn carrots and what ever else was in there considering I’m allergic to carrots. He tells me I can bring it back like I told him I don’t have a car and then he start getting smart. Lord knows it better be glad god is working on me or he would have got some choose word. Frfr. The attitude cause you want to try some new stuff and you getting bad reviews. You get mad. Boy bye your food is nasty. I use to go there all the time but know I remember why I stopped. Look at the so call fried corn

I called at 11:10pm to place an order knowing that they closed at midnight and I was already headed that way. I was told that they weren't taking any call-ins (apparently you can't call in an order after 9 pm)but they were open until midnight. I arrived at 11:20 but didn't get my order taken until 11:30...Didn't leave until 12:09 with my food. Although the cashier, Bria was pleasant, the young lady on the phone (Jeanine?) Could use a little customer service etiquette. Clearly good customer service is not at the top of the priority list based on the signs posted at the register which basically said that they were not accepting tips until customer service improved! After the 30 minute wait at least my food was still got when I got home and the ribs were nice and tender. Love the barbeque sauce on the fries and the Mac n cheese. Maybe I'll give them another try in the daylight hours...

ABSOLUTELY NO 100% DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ALL TRASH THE SERVICE THE FOOD !!! Yuck!

Entry in building restaurant grungy vibe /small

As you’re walking into the building , loiters sitting in their cars at the entry of the business asking if you want to buy perfume or oils like you couldn’t fix yourself to be somewhere else!!! SMH

Food 1out of 5 For starters I ordered two chicken wing dinners I came to $40.28 never again !!! chicken wings were deep fried an seasoning on top no breading no flavour I asked for barbecue sauce on the side got zero sauce!! WINGS ARE STRAIGHT TRASH !! yams and mac & cheese were my two sides the yams taste it like they poured straight white sugar ALL OVER THEM and boiled to mush,,,,WTH!? Just awful!! The mac & cheese was overpowered by too too too much garlic way too much garlic. I don’t know who was cooking yesterday September 29, 2025 but Lord knows they need to go back to their kitchen cause that stuff was awful.

STAFF !! RUDE ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS Especially for the people that are physically standing there the young girl that was answering the phone and delegating the food could not do two things at once She was partially serving me yet having a full-blown conversation on the phone, mostly invested on the phone took my money and held it in her hand for a solid four minutes before giving me my change or my food, she held the door that allows me to grab my food it open on her side, but because she wasn’t paying attention let alone trying to serve me correctly so I can move on with my day, she was engaged in conversation on the phone !!!! I was gonna tip her and decided absolutely not. Thank goodness I didn’t as my barbeque sauce was missing for both my meals. TRASH SERVICE //

THE GUY THAT WAS TAKING PRE-ORDERS, PICKED UP THE PHONE AND ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED, I SAID I WOULD LIKE TO PLACE AN ORDER FOR PICK UP. HE SAID HOLD ON AND KEPT ME ON HOLD FOR OVER 10 MINUTES. I HANG UP. I WAS CONFUSED WHAT WAS GOING ON……I CALLED BACK. HE PICKS UP IMMEDIATELY AND SAYS YOU HUNG UP NOW YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE BACK OF THE LINE now more than 5 people ahead of you !!! WHICH IS A BIT WILD TO SAY WHEN YOUR LACK OF COMMUNICATION DID NOT CONVEY THAT MESSAGE WHEN I HAD FIRST CALLED, THE MORE APPROPRIATE THING WOULD BE TO SAY IS “WERE BUSY COULD YOU PLEASE HOLD IT MIGHT TAKE A FEW MINUTES, BUT I’LL GET BACK TO YOU !!!!

ZERO Respect for the money that’s coming into their business. I absolutely would never again tell anybody I know or...

As a born and raised Detroiter, I know barbecue. These are regular good old barbecue cooking folks. Most of their menu they get perfect every time basically because these are family recipes. If you go in acting like a fussy, picky 2 gays this and whats that you are probably going to leave unhappy. Basically I have my favorites and reorder . Things that do not suit me I do not reorder. The menu is pricey but worth it comparing it to the below standard take put that has replaced once good places up and down the streets and avenues since 1958. So here are my favorites... Racks of ribs, the sauce is light, not overpowering and get it in sauced if you prefer to go home and use your own but you will miss a treat of their own flavor profile. The mac and cheese is mommas own , get it when a fresh pan has come out never the last of a pan, just saying. The string beans and greens are passable but I usually pass being a good cook myself I cannot bear eating kind of green missing neckbones, hamhocks, pot liquor, simmered hours. The shrimp are okay but I pass to little and not crunchy enough. I was a Shrimp devotee to Vince and Mark Sanders childhood friends and cooks delightful, fat juicy crispy shramps, oh just saying it makes me get weepy . Anyway the peach cobbler will satisfy you,get it from fresh pan out or less than half the pan gone, pass on last portions, no crust or freshness left. I like crust alot and they skimp on it a bit. As far,as goodness,it almost reminds you of mommas but some batches go overboard with sweetness, clawing, too much sugar, I always eat it with French Vanilla ice cream. My favorite other than Barbecue the WANGS😅!!!The wing man is masterful setting it out wiling usually large plump, juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside sometimes this place is an hour wait for orders and we'll worth the wait. Try showing a bit of appreciation for the effort and courage to stay here and do business and thrive as a black business not in The downtown club of restaurants, but a jewel in our crown to take or send anyone out of town to for a...

Came with my brother today, who chose this spot. Honestly I wouldn't have come here, after the last time I ordered and their Mac and cheese was total garbage! My brother asked the young attendant about the prices of the beef ribs and about the price of the pork ribs. They seemed to be annoyed that he was asking to compare the difference in prices to decide which one we would finally choose. And their prices are sky-high! Judging by the disposition of the attendant, I had a mind to just leave, but my brother really wanted ribs and this place WAS known for good BBQ. So I suffered through. I watched though, as the server literally SLOPPED the ribs and tips into the containers, sauce running all over them, dripping off, and not even bothering to wipe off anything. Also, the foods in their heated table is not covered, everything is open to the air. Their sauce game sucks. They had some ribs that were in the pan with thick BBQ sauce; but what they actually serve is some runny 'Open Pit' type of sauce--ugh. The customer service was not there. We got the Mac and cheese and the green beans. The beans were ok. The Mac and cheese was awful. They really need to stop making that until they have a respectable recipe, and/or someone who knows how to actually cook it right. It was some lumpy coagulated oily mess with some shells instead of macaroni! I give fair reviews, I am not exaggerating, so if you want to find out if its true, go to Uptown. Maybe you'll get lucky and they will step their game up. I however, will...
