I tried Yellow Light because a co-worker bought the Blueberry Glaze donut for me when they first opened. It was tasty, so I was determined to go try other menu items as the place is a short distance from where I work. I attempted to come 4 other times, all which they were closed (2 times from a power outage). I finally visited and it was just okay for me. My daughter and I ordered the chicken sausage and chedder breakfast sandwich, the Lemon Poppy Glaze, and Vanilla Bean Glaze Donut. The sandwich was ok for me, not so much for my kid. I liked how the soft the bread was when I bit into it. Neither of us liked the donuts. To me, the lemon poppy strongly lacked the lemon. It was just a Poppyseed donut. The vanilla bean lacked flavor as well. On the more positive side, drive through moved fairly quickly, the employees were polite, and my co-worker really enjoys the coffee!! Would I go there again? Meh, maybe to try a...
Read moreWent to both locations on a recent trip to visit a friend in Detroit. I was never into Krueller style donuts because of the heaviness. I am now a fan. Whatever Poundcake like dough recipe yall got, is out of this world! To the point where my friend and I have been having long conversations trying to figure out how they are made. The Lemon Poppy Seed is the star. I can’t wait to come back and try the Cherry Almond, Key Lime, Butter Plantain. The breakfast biscuit, specifically the chicken maple is amazing. The drive thru only location has funniest lady who gave my friends dog a puppy treat and made us laugh. I want to bathe in the lemon poppy seed donut icing. I really appreciate the at the donut itself is not overly sweet and the lemon zest in that icing shines brighter because of it. This makes me want to move to Detroit during the summer (not ready for y’all winters). Oh and my friend likes...
Read moreIn a world of Dunkin’ Donuts, be a Yellow Light Donut. I’m embarrassed to say I’m a donut connoisseur and spending 5 years in Los Angeles only made it worse. I know a good donut when I see it and Yellow Light is it. Most of the “new” donut places seem to focus more on ingredients like lavender or bacon or whatever is on trend and then fail to make an actually good tasting product. Yellow Light does it all - interesting flavors (alongside tried and trues) that are great tasting. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. And for the record, I always judge a place based on how well they do the basics and even the plain old fashioned is a knockout. Same goes for the chocolate frosted which is my favorite. Coffee pairs perfectly, too. Yellow Light is my go...
