Oh, I hate to be brutally honest, because this is such a small town. But, here we go. We arrived and out on the porch by the main entrance was a dead and ugly broken down machine. Looked horrible. We entered and discovered that the restaurant was a 2 tier, you must walk down some stairs, not safe. Elders and handicapped beware. Our waitress was sweet, but dropped our plastic utensils on the floor and didnt offer or get a fresh set but rather just placed the plastic wear that was on the floor back on our table. Ok, no, no, no. Then our food came. Carne guisada was spoiled. Taste was sharp, as if meat was turning. It was very Obvious... who is cooking this should have been obvious to the cook, color this was very light and grey. awful !!! carne guisada could make someone sick. RICE, PERFECT!!! REFRIED BEANS, PERFECT!!! the small salad on our plates was fresh, and tomatoes fresh. Table chips on table were homemade but sauce was too watery, hardly anything solid. Tortillas were very good but had a peculiar taste. Again. That taste ruined the homemade tortillas. I will not be back. Sweet tea not sweet at all....

My chicken came with onions and peppers as is custom but no cheese?! It's called Monterey chicken because there is supposed to be Monterey cheese. In addition to my chicken being sans cheese it was fairly bland. My wife said her chicken was similarly lackluster. A last note, their menu says that "some plates come with tortillas" which is ambiguous, so if you want tortillas with your meal make...

Chicken Verde enchiladas and chicken flautas were the daily special and they did not disappoint. The Verde sauce was impressive and went well with the green jalapeno crema. Creamy refried beans with that "Mexican magic" cooked into it with nicely seasoned rice. I can't wait to see what Fridays special will be! Treat yourself well and go grab you some lunch. You will...
