I liked the previous place "The Mugs" better. It could be because I came after they first opened up but in my opinion it was better before. I usually go to cafes as a spot to get some work done or study. The Mugs used to be a premium study spot with good lighting and good atmosphere. They decided to renovated to a more brighter look which I didn't resound with. It just doesn't feel as cozy as before. Parking is still good here though with a downstairs parking area if you wanna go through the tight spiral down.
Drinks are more or less the same but I didn't really go there for that. The coffee and tea are good and they serve it the same way as before. To me coffee is coffee. I usually got the berry tea drink which is good but like not that good.
Food: I mean if you want fancy cafe food then this is fine but if you are a guy that likes to eat then it won't be enough for you.
Vibe: For me as a study spot this place got downgraded. They removed the side table which had alot of outlets. I don't think they even have the outlets there anymore. The middle table was still there with plugs but I saw some recent pictures and it looks like they replaced that as well. Not sure if the new table has plugs there too. The pillar table with the outlet is still the same though so if you claim that hats off to you. At least the internet still works the same.
Random note: The restroom has always been in a weird place here. It's like a commitment to get there.
Maybe too many people went to study there without paying so they removed most of the study aspects. Bummer. Guess the study spots for Rowland went down by one. My tier list used to be Mugs, Summerfield, The Starbucks next to Tastea and Panera near the mall. Now i have...
Read moreI was a regular at The Mugs before it was bought out and turned into Outpost Coffee. Overall, I would give this place a 4/5 stars for having high prices with good but not excellent coffee, however, it is 3/5 stars with the context of what this place used to be.
In general, I haven't been a huge fan of the changes they've made. Prices have been raised, drinks are sweeter, and the interior has been remodeled to look like we are in Irvine.
Still, this is the best place for high quality coffee in this area, hence why they are able to bump up their prices again. However, I think it's a risky move as more trendy cafés pop up with Dumbstruck Coffee and Margin Coffee just 10 min. away in either direction. (Both of which have better prices)
I'm still a regular here due to convenience but: $5 croissants would incite a riot in France My favorite drink was the mocha and they switched the recipe to use a mocha powder. It now tastes very watered down and I hate it. Please change it back to how it was already. They also downgraded the rewards point system to give less rewards after...
Read moreTheir drinks are decent and prices start around $5.50 and up! For a first time visitor, you pretty much will be left standing around because no one at the cashier will greet you or ask you if you need a table. Not even a hello or how may I help you? When you get right up to the cash register, if you can find it since it's your first visit, then someone will be able to take your order! We walked up to the service counter where a barista was standing and he pretty much just ignored us at first, then told us if we needed to order then go to the cash register which was literally right next to where he was standing. Starbucks ambiance is fine and free WiFi with password access is provided. The public restrooms do require a code to access. All the servers seemed to stay behind the counter as if they are not customer friendly at all. I didn't like this vibe from...
