Fantastic food! Irish omelet special was phenomenal. BAST omelet spectacular. Swiss burger and make-your-own egg sandwich good. Kids chicken tenders and fries were cooked to perfection! Our picky kid ate every crumb on his plate and wished he had more.
Service was good but not great. The servers were responsible for too many tables. We waited too long for our order to be taken. We also didn’t get periodic checks on our needs or subsequent orders (wanted to add something and get an order to go as we paid). Hostess & servers weren’t friendly or chatty but they may have been short-staffed or busier than usual, I don’t know.
The restaurant was warm and welcoming, wasn’t too noisy, was filled with friendly customers, and had a nice small-town familiar vibe.
We’ll make the trip from Woodhaven Lakes over to Mary’s when we have an omelet craving or the day turns...
Read moreMy husband and I dont get to Dixon often but when we do, this is our breakfast stop! Still the same great food and great service year after year. First thing needed was coffee! Our waitress VAL understood the mission and started us off right. (and with plenty of refills) My husband asked for her recommendation because he wanted a steak and the chicken fried steak was the winner. Val knew what she was talking about- we were blown away! So tender and flavorful. So much so, we may just come back for this alone Haha. (and this is something we rarely order) I ordered the blueberry pancakes (so good with the crispy edges) with my bacon n eggs but alas it was too much. Val saw me wrapping my bacon in a napkin (for our 🐶) and she came over with some foil and said this will be way better. Val to the rescue! Til next...
Read moreFor context, we are from Chicago and are used to Chicago prices. That being said, Mary's was a great value. For $23, we had an order of specialty pancake, an omlete with generous sides, and coffee and another drink. One of us had cranberry pancakes. While not the fluffiest, they were a good balance of tart and sweet, a definite pleasant surprise. The omelete was a bacon cheeseburger omelete. Every bite had a mouthful of gooey cheese, and the ground beef was really well seasoned, and it had the right amount of onions and tomatoes. As an added bonus, Mary's offers potato pancakes as a side potato. The only downside were the biscuits, which were chewy rather than a multi layers fluffy southern biscuit. Overall, it's a good stop when you're in...
