If I could give it 0/5 I would. My girlfriend and I ordered for the first time on Wednesday afternoon. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles, Steak house Cheese rolles and roasted Bella’s. To my surprise my order came out to be over 60$, for 2 people I thought it was a tad overpriced. So instead of canceling and ordering Somkit (what I should of done), I grabbed my jacket and headed straight to the restaurant because I wanted the overpriced food as hot as possible. When I arrived at the restaurant I was welcomed to a awkward tight seating setting where I uncomfortably sat at the bar and waited 20 min for my food. After she took my card she handed me a receipt and insist I tip on a to-go order. At this point I’m anxious to leave, tip and exit the restaurant. When I got home I brought it the wet soaked bag into my house and started to pull sticky containers from it. Extremely frustrating, I construct a plate, pop it back into the microwave to feed my starving girlfriend. As the food heats up I call the restaurant to be put on hold for 5 min, was told “all of my information was written down” and someone would be calling soon. That was 2 days ago and decided to call in myself. Again, took down all my info to revive a call back 5 min later. The owner I believe, insisted I had no idea what I was talking about for her “husband bagged the food in front of her” and it was impossible. Best she should do was partial credit. I feel disrespected and dismissed for overpriced garbage food. Don’t waste your time or money here. They don’t...

We were in Oregon from Rockford. We were looking for a bar that also served steak and eggs. We drove to Dixon thinking we would be able to find something there. When we arrived around noon, we figured we were not going to have any luck and then just decided on a bar with food. I Googled bars with food near me and River City Ale appeared . We decided to give it a shot.

When we arrived we were greeted by Toby. We ordered Bloody Mary's. They were one of the best that we've ever had! I'm a dive bar bartender and make good ones myself. I ordered the grilled cheese and tots. My husband ordered the ribeye grinder with fries. The grilled cheese was delicious. The ribeye was delectable! It was a real ribeye chopped up for a sandwich. It was very juicy and tasty, never frozen. We sat at the bar and had a great experience!

We will definitely make the trek down here again and we recommend River City Ale to everyone!! It's a unique experience w/their specialty drinks and fabulous food! Even though they were busy, Toby did an outstanding job keeping up...

Popped by from out of town for a bit this past weekend. The male bartender, tried to refuse a sales offer to buy a table drinks. I politely asked if they had drink chips and told him to just give those to the guest instead in order to not upset my friend or force the table to drink more that evening and so the business also didn’t lose the sale. Actually, I said offer them the drink chips for next time, thinking the last part of the previous statement in my head.

The bartender rudely looked at me and goes”don’t tell me how to do my job. “ in a very aggressive, rude manner.

As an individual who is an expert in the industry as a mixologist, former bar & music venue manager, an MBA & worked in the industry for 16 years with proven success I thought this was beyond horrible. Not only was he denying his owners sales, he was angering my friend, lowering his tip overall and being ignorant and arrogant.

After this incident, we then ordered an appetizer that was severed still frozen in the center. Not the best experience dining this...

Just me and my lovey out on a Saturday Food find. I had just the regular pulled pork sandwich, Tater tots and a Jack and Coke. Sandwich was great 9 of 10 for sure! Tater tots we're very good as well they didn't taste overly greasy. nice, light, and crispy. My wife had the river city Burger classic, potato soup. and a titos and cranberry. Burger was 9 of 10 great meat! soup was good. Could have been warmer. I will rave about this. their drinks were good! Our number one favorite, served in the right glass! We also had their roasted Portabellas. My wife liked them I did not so much. Our waitress was definitely on her game giving her a 10. One last thing the place is a little small. Less than 10 tables for sure. But the food was worth it and we will be back. Thank you river city for welcoming us and feeding us. Joe and Toby

I just ate the most delicious cheese curds that I've ever had. I am a huge fan of fried cheese. Mozzarella sticks, cheese curds...I get them at almost every restaurant that I go to. These were called garlic cheese balls. They were mozzarella cheese with garlic and then deep fried. I dipped them in ranch. They were better than any other fried cheese I've ever eaten. It was like cheesy garlic bread. We also had the Bavarian soft pretzel which was delicious. And we had french fries. We just decided to get a bunch of appetizers and a couple of martinis. The raspberry martini was out of this world. Our server was delightful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and fun. It was a great light lunch. I absolutely can't wait to go back and bring friends and family with me.

Three of us for lunch yesterday. We all had burgers. I would guess the patties are preformed, about 1/3 lb. They were good. Fries and tots were good. None of the beer we wanted was available- no High Life, no Anti-hero, no Bud Light Lime. Service wasn’t great. Prices are high. You can get better burgers for a lot less at some of the area’s small town bars. However, Dixon is sorely lacking decent pubs, so we’ll probably hit this one again. I like the G-pay option.
