I asked a friend where to eat breakfast Dixon, she said Dawson's or Buds. I flipped a coin and boy was this a winner! I had Huevos Rancheros, a waffle my wife had the California Omelet. Her omelet was fantastic she said EXCEPT that it wasn't as hot as she would have preferred. Almost like they cooked hers first and then made my meal. For me, even though the carnitas in my Rancheros was super moisture and had perfect crisp and my eggs over medium burst with flavor from the dish....the waffle was by far the capstone. I ordered with fruit, but I normally am not interested, and I ordered no whip cream. So, I guess I am highlighting a second blunder when I say, they put whip cream on it. It was early Saturday, they just opened, we were the first and only being served blah blah....but you also only had 1 job 🤨 In any case, that whip cream I expected to be fake and wimpy, came out looking thick like idk ice cream or something. It also happened to be the best mistake of my life! I totally wanted to just buy a tub of that stuff it was epic. The server said it was homemade, of course it was! I should mention she offered to replace the waffle, but when I saw the texture I declined as I was cautiously optimistic. Coffee btw was nothing restaurant gross about it. Very robust and great flavor. Came in charming mugs and they had no shortage of cream when we asked for them. The interaction was super friendly and endearing. Honestly I can see the warm Omelet and lack of whip cream omissions to earn 4 Sars not 5, but my opinion is to say otherwise as we truly enjoyed our food and experience. Rest assured, I will announce they need to work on food temp next time we go, and we definitely will be...

What a gem to have found in Dixon! We make the trip from Suisun City at least a couple of times a month to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, great service and food so good that one would be hard pressed to find anything better in San Francisco or Napa! And the prices are beyond reasonable for the creative and changing menu.

Chef Wyatt is young and energetic as well as enthusiastic and talented. On Thursdays, he creates a tasting menu using the locally grown, farmers market selections. I have tried something different on each visit and have yet to be anything but pleasantly happy to benefit from his thoughtful creations. I’ll be bringing friends there this Saturday to dine on our way to Thunder Valley to see Ron White perform.

I heartily recommend that anyone interested in a great meal served in a great atmosphere at great prices, make the 5 minute drive off Interstate 80 at the central Dixon exit. Just be prepared to find reasons to drive that stretch of the freeway often, just to have an excuse to exit there and go...

So my wife and I went in to enjoy a meal. The bar tender made eye contact with us a couple of times. No service. She helped other people though. Keep in mind this is just our second time in. The couple next to us, a mom and child, were asked if they want another drink. The awnser was no. Then they were brought a bill. Still no one talked to my wife and myself. Just about 15 minutes in still no one to help us. Last time we were in the bill was about $80 not including tip. Just my wife and myself. I'll never go back do to horrible service. We will take our money back out of town. Ridiculous!

So Jill took care of the situation. My wife and I went for a third time. 1st time was good, 2nd time was not the greatest as you saw. I have to say, we went in and sat at the bar, and the bar tender was great. Food was delicious, and the service was awesome. We thank the staff and the...

If you’re traveling I-80 between the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe exit in Dixon and drive 5-minutes to Downtown for a journey back in time. Dawson’s sign indicates they’ve been here since 1908. Tables inside, two outside, so my little dog LuLu was welcome. I enjoyed the Fried Chicken Sandwich with dill seasoned fries. Fat juicy and tender chicken breast, enough to share a few chunks with Lulu. After our meal we took advantage of the 70-degree temperatures (rare for mid -June!) by walking up and down 1st St. and A St. I noticing civic improvement, like a downtown park, since I was here 5-years ago. Wine Bar, Yoga, Sushi, Farm-to-Fork; the town appears to be in a bit of a revival. You’d never know about the quaint Downtown area it if you limited your stop to the typical gas stations, fast food, Walmart, etc., adjacent to I-80. Four stars for Dawson’s, one additional star ⭐️ for location.

Lunch date with my friend who I haven't seen in person since before Covid! We needed somewhere to meet 1/2 between us and Dixon fit the bill. Our original choice of restaurant (The Frying Pan) turned out to be closed all weekend, so we walked down the street and found Dawson's. It was a good choice! Cute neighborhood place, with friendly staff. We shared Wasabi Deviled Eggs, Steak Bites and we both had Wedge Salads. With a couple glasses of wine. The eggs had just a touch of Wasabi, not overwhelming. The steak bites had a good level of black pepper and the wedges were super crispy and fresh.
