Waffle House — Restaurant in Dothan

Today makes the 3rd time we've had issues with this waffle house. We live about 15 minutes away so we like to call in to-go orders. Lately, no one answers the phone. You get a recording that says they are busy and can't take orders over the phone. So we drive to the location to place the order to-go in person expecting to arrive to a busy restaurant. When we get there it's completely empty and the employees are sitting down playing on their cell phones. The 2nd attempt to place a to-go order over the phone and I actually get someone to take the order. She tells me it will be 15 mins and they will have it ready. I get there in 20 mins and tell them my name. She tells me it will be a few more minutes so I wait. Another 15 minutes goes by and she's calling out other orders from people who came to eat inside, but arrived after me. I ask how much longer my order will take and she said "I'm calling it out now". She hadn't even placed my order to the cook yet. And our last time of visiting this waffle house was today. They didn't answer the phone again to place a to-go order, so my husband went up to place it in person. Again, they were not busy when he arrived. He places the order and waits for it to be ready. Several other people walk in after him and order. Their food gets delivered to their table before our order. My husband asked how much longer it will be. Two employees start arguing over who's responsibility it was to call the order in to the cook. It was never called in and had my husband not said something he would've sat there forever. Fully staffed when I walked in, ordered a simple double hash brown with cheese! Waiter called out my order to the cook and then proceeded to decode the order for him so as I’m patiently waiting I see an order similar to what I ordered but without cheese getting ready to be placed in the bag so as the waiter was looking she asked the cook where was the cheese… so by now I’m asking is that my order she finally answered the third time I asked and said yes the cook asked another cook to melt some cheese now I’m upset because not only does the cheese have to melt but my hash browns have to go back on the grill and nobody wants rock hard refried hash browns so I just leave as I’m walking out the cooked said “over a piece of d@mN cheese “ will be contacting management along with cooperate because they could have had made me a fresh batch and adjusted my bill they...

Update Aug 22, 2025- The BEST waffle house food tonight EVER!!!! Not greasy at ALL! WONDERFUL taste! The staff was WONDERFUL as well. They were very professional and kind. Shoutout to Aidena, Corey, Dylan, Torrence, and Bryanna. 💖🙏💖💖💖💖💖💖

Update 2023: Jessica was AWESOME!!! 👌 Food was EXCELLENT! BEST experience I've had at ANY RESTAURANT!!! WOW. 💕 P.S. : we went around 11:00 pm or so at night. The staff was SUPERB! I'm guessing the bad reviews were from the day time staff?

I'd give the nice guy that works there five stars. VERY nice staff and GREAT food. Do wish they told me they had a 20 % fee for carryout. I always leave a big tip regardless, mostly at Christmas! You should let customers know. I spent 87 dollars feeding four...
