A very disappointing lunch, one of the worst dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We ordered the Double Decker Smash Burger, Chicken Quesadilla, and 2 coffees. The cost for these two small meals was $46+, with the tip it totaled $55+.
The burger came with onion rings. The onion rings were decent and the burger was simply average. The quesadilla, which is served as a stand-alone item, was the absolute worst I've ever had in any restaurant. Seriously, the chicken quesadilla served at Applebee's for a much lower price is more flavorful and provides a far better value (and that's really saying something!). It was literally nothing but a bunch of shredded, non seasoned chicken with a smattering of melted Mexican cheese. The menu gave the impression that it came with onions and peppers, but that wasn't the case.
When I went to the counter to inquire about the lack of onions and peppers noted on the menu for the quesadilla, I was told I needed to specifically order them on it. The staff offered to go cook some and bring it to me when ready, but I mentioned that by the time they were ready the quesadilla itself would be cold, which doesn't make for a very good quesadilla . They just said okay, we'll let the owner know that the menu description isn't very clear.
To their credit, there were a few good points about the place. The only decent things I found about the place was the freshness of the coffee (free refills), the gluten free (though outrageously priced) menu options, the interior decor, the window view when dining inside, and the option to dine outside.
This small lunch for two was way pricier than it should be, or needed to be when considering portion size and quality, and that alone is enough for me to never return for a second try.
I highly recommend that this is not a decent choice for lunch. While I did note what was good about the place, the terrible aspects outweighed the good to such a significant extent that this place warrants only 1 star. They ought to be ashamed to serve such sub-par offerings at such exorbitant prices....
Read moreI recently visited this establishment during a birthday trip to Maine. Upon arrival, the restaurant was empty with no other customers present. I placed our order through the app and selected the dine-in option for our party of four.
Over the course of an hour, no staff member approached us or provided any updates. During this time, additional customers—both individuals and larger groups—began to arrive. We observed that these guests received their drinks and meals promptly, despite arriving well after us.
While we initially gave the benefit of the doubt, considering our party size might require more preparation time, it became difficult to ignore the fact that we were the only people of color present and consistently overlooked. We did not want to assume this was racially motivated, but as the situation unfolded, that concern became harder to dismiss.
Eventually, a member of our group approached the counter to inquire about our order. The staff apologized and claimed they were unaware we were there. Roughly 30 minutes later, our food was finally brought out—in takeout containers and a bag, despite our clear selection of the dine-in option. This left us feeling unwelcome and disregarded.
We spent close to $100, and we still chose to leave a tip. While the owner did offer an apology, the experience left a lasting negative impression. As a U.S. citizen and veteran, I would like to believe that race did not play a role in the treatment we received. However, witnessing multiple Caucasian parties, some even larger than ours, being served promptly while we were ignored raises serious questions.
I sincerely hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity to reflect and improve. No guest should ever leave feeling...
Read moreWhere do I begin.. this cafe is amazing on so many levels.
Let’s start with the food. They have so many gluten free options (not just omitting bread), and dairy free milk alternatives/options that this neck of the woods needs. There are so many places you can’t go around here with food allergies, but this spot has so many options for dairy, gluten, and even soy which is a hard one.
Atmosphere. The person/people who designed this place must be an artist or just really appreciates aesthetic. The outdoor tables over looking the water create such a quaint and tranquil vibe, while the indoor seating gives a blend of Maine and the desert in one (imo). So many beautiful plants, rugs, artwork, and the lighting… just wow.
Service. The girl that helped me out was so dope. You could tell that connecting with people on an authentic level is something that fills her heart with joy. She has blonde hair and a bunch of cool rings— she deserves recognition!
This place is such a dope little gem in Piscataquis county. Love what y’all are doing, keep...
