I rarely give bad reviews, but there's much room for improvement here. Here's the basis for my review:
-The lack of a friendly smile and a warm greeting at ordering. This is customer service 101. When this is lacking (it was), it comes across as snooty to the customer.
-pressuring for a tip before food is even prepared or eaten. The kitchen was closed, so the food all came from the cooler, including one of the four drinks. Yet at checkout, using this clever "rating" system BEFORE the food is prepared and eaten and service is rendered puts the customer in an unfair, awkward corner. Imagine sitting down at a restaurant, and after taking your order, the server would say "ok, 20% = excellent, 15% = good,..." and you'd have to either tip/rate their service or deny it altogether while they stood there and stared at you before they had actually even brought you food and allowed you to eat it.
-it wasn't until after we left that we realized my daughter's caramel drink tasted like a charcoal briquette, so apparently there was a preparation error.
I'm sure a different day could bring a better experience, but all of these critiques are...
Read moreThis place was elegant, prompt, and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed our time here both for the atmosphere and the food! There were a couple opportunities for improvement, particularly with the food, so this was between a 4 & 5 star, but I gave it 5 because the overall impression is just great. For a big space it was surprisingly easy to talk and not too loud. The people were really helpful and nice. For the food, we loved and ate everything, but in each dish there was one thing we felt off: just slightly too much yogurt for the fruit/nuts; smashed potatoes could have been more crispy; peanut sauce wasn't quite the right fit -- but the brisket and grilled cheese sandwiches were so delicious, the latte perfect (though a little sweet) and the fresh ingredients/perfect cook of elements was...
Read moreVisited this cafe last month and have found the perfect place to eat. After standing in lines for other places, sat down immediately. It was clean and had a great feeling. Very clean with high ceilings. You take a menu and order at the counter. You then sit down. There is cold water in a pitcher on every table so you can take a drink right away. They bring your order to your table. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was the best I ever have had. They grill it perfectly and it has honey on it. It comes with a side. I chose a.salad. It was equally outstanding. I would highly recommend trying this cafe. It’s not the typical Amish food but when you are in Amish country and want to not spend all your time waiting to eat, try this cafe....
