010222 Fresh and fabulous! I cannot say enough about this place. The Sushi rolls aka Makimono aka Special Maki are fantastic! They are nothing but fresh flavor and fabulous texture where it's needed. The rolls are exciting, but be careful of how many you think you can eat, they will charge you for leftovers that's how tasty it is! Your eyes and mouth will be bigger than your stomach. My list of the rolls that I have tried and only had one I did not like at all, and that was (Spicey Tuna Maki) it just tasted like pepper in the pink stuff (Shitake mushroom) sadly after trying all the rest, I thought the mushroom would have had a bigger presence in the roll, but you just didn't know there was even any mushroom in there. Now, these are the rolls I tried and loved! Highly recommend (Chicago Fire)(crispy sweet potato maki) (Snow mountain) (black dragon) (Downers Grove) (sweet summer) I have already been there twice with different people and the quality is the same. Now, on the appetizer list, what I did try I wasn't all that impressed; it didn't seem like it was made fresh on sure but came in a bag. I am not a big appetizer eater unless that's my only meal. I did try the coconut shrimp and was not impressed. I love raw fish and I did try sake, Maguro and Hamachi my first time there and unfortunately none of that had a fresh flavor which I was surprised, a tad dry too, the next time I was there I did not bother with it . The place is new, so it's clean and bright, and they did separate and spaced everybody due to the covid restrictions. The staff just kept working and did a great job, but there really is no time for conversation. There is a robot that delivers your appetizers, but it does not deliver your entree items that was fun to see it get stuck in some areas. We did do the all you can eat so there is a wait time, especially on busy nights and weekends, and there were a lot of large parties so if you have an impatient party do not go during prime dinner time and due to the limited seating with covid restrictions there was a wait time. I highly recommend you make your 1st order..several rolls,  remember none of this is piping hot, so there's no need to worry about it getting cold . They also seem to do a very good carry out business, lots of pickup orders.  So grab yourself a menu. Highly recommend,  will be busy so keep that in mind when you...

Today is June 18, 2019, and I just had my first experience at this lovely sushi restaurant. I came in around 12:30PM, with only two other people in here (maybe because of the construction). It's spacious, but somehow still pretty intimate. The person who greeted me also happened to be my server. He's very attentive, and definitely very patient. All of the staff seem very friendly here.

I went ahead and got the all you can eat special from their dinner menu, which is $22.99 opposed to the $17.99 lunch menu. I felt the price difference was worth it. I ordered one "Torched Dragon"(Cooked), one "Downers Grove"(Raw), one piece of super white tuna(Raw), one piece of the regular tuna(Raw), and one piece of Mackerel(Cooked).

The Downers Grove roll is the one wrapped in pink. It is quite big, and I honestly think it would be a decent amount of food on its own. The Downers Grove had a very "springy" flavor right off the bat. The first thing to hit me were the cucumbers. They tasted very fresh, and gave the roll a great contrast of texture by adding a very delightful crunch to the otherwise soft texture of the roll.

The Torched Dragon on first bite really reminded me of these seaweed snack chips that you can probably find at any Asian grocery mart. I feel that the seaweed complimented the fish pretty well.

Now the mackerel. While I personally enjoyed this piece, it has a very strong presence to it I guess. I feel like their mackerel definitely has more of a fermented element of flavor to it. Although you could try it for yourself, just don't blame me if you end up disliking it :). The tuna and super white tuna were great. They both have the same soft, cloudy texture almost. I think the super white has a milder flavor than the regular tuna, but not by much. I don't think anybody would be off-put by either one. I may be a smol boy, but I have a big appetite. I finished all 21 pieces, and didn't feel bloated at all afterwards. I don't have any regrets; not even a single bite.

Overall I really did enjoy my experience here at Sushi City. Although my experience is my own, with all of the positive reviews. I do believe they are doing pretty well across the board. If you've read my review up to this point; thank you for sharing your time with me. I really hope that you'll give this place a try. See for yourself whether or not these reviews...

Update to my initial review:

I went another day to see if perhaps my experience was just on one of their off days service wise. It was not. We were seated at 5:40pm. The booths were about 50% full and only 2 tables taken. So not super busy. And then we waited. 30 minutes until someone actually came to take our menus and get us drinks. Okay. Fine. I could let it slide if the rest of the service was good. It was not. Our food came out about 30 minutes after that. About 15 minutes later, we stopped one of the servers and requested 2 more menus. He said sure and then proceeded to ignore us and walk around, living his best life. 10 minutes later I was able to make eye contact with another server and again requested 2 more menus and refills. She brought them over and about 10 minutes later, collected them. 30 minutes later we were still waiting. I'm starting to believe that this is intentional. I think that they lure you in under the guise of being "All you can eat" but they ensure that the service is so bad that you don't actually get your additional order. The first time we waited so long that we just gave up and left. I think that is their goal. The food is good but the service is appallingly bad. Definitely won't be returning after this time.

I'm giving 2 stars because the food was actually pretty good. But the service made the visit unbearable. My friend and I were there for over 2 hours and only received 1 order each. We had turned in our second order and after an hour of not coming out, we left. The price would have been good if we'd actually gotten to eat the things we ordered, but considering we only got 1 plate each, definitely was not worth the all you...
