Nice atmosphere and SHOULD be an easy 5 stars, but really let down last time I was there and discovered things hadn’t changed much. Been going there off and on since they opened, and usually got drinks but have eaten plenty of times as well. Awesome and cozy former mill setting, very clean and yet cozy and homely too. Plenty of room, and a good location in Dracut in the heart of Collinsville.
The let down? Food and drink unfortunately. It’s not cheap, but not overpriced either, but is setup, marketed, and menu gives the impression of a higher end Irish American restaurant and pub. However, the food never stacks up. It’s not bad- don’t get me wrong- but forgettable. Menu choices look great, and have a lot of good intent behind them, but every time it’s just OK.... meaning the local pizza shops have much better sandwiches, steak tips, chicken, etc. Ate there tonight and ordered steak tips. The thicker pieces were cooked properly, the thinner pieces way over cooked. However, even rare, was very tough and was obvious it was a very cheap cut of beef. The rice was good, albeit bland. Coleslaw... well, I wasn’t expecting homemade and perfect, but was on par with the cheapest pre made coleslaw out there. Food comes quick, and there is always plenty of waitstaff, but they also tend to chitchat amongst each other more than tend to their tables, but it is what it is.
Drinks? I’m not picky- but it’s a point of contention when a Guinness comes poured wrong. Kudos for using the right glass, and pouring a proper English pint, but came loaded with large bubbles and lacking the smooth pour it is supposed to have (Guinness has a very specific 2 part pour and poured wrong it does affect the flavor). For a Boston priced Guinness, and a place that prides itself as Irish American, pouring a Guinness wrong is a sin.
This is a good restaurant, and has all of the things there to be great- but sadly falls short, and has each and every time I’ve gone there for years and years. If they could get the food cooked as good as The Village Inn, T Bones, Brothers Pizza, etc it would be a fantastic place and I’d go there a lot more- but it’s hard to justify premium prices when the food is...
Read moreIt seems like this is an ongoing issue with cold food and pitiful service. Owners/management doesn’t even take the time to respond to reviews or take them as a way to improve and excel.
Ordered dinner here the other night. Food came out but server never brought silverware. When asked, it took several minutes for her to come back. This is AFTER she asked how everything tasted. We had no idea how anything tasted, since the last time I ate out, baked scallops and a turkey dinner weren’t finger food.
Broccolini one one order was cold and turkey dinner was completely cold. I chalked it up to food sitting in the window and server not doing her job, since she never even brought silverware.
I sent the food back and everything came out cold again. So it seems that not only are the servers not trained, but the kitchen staff is lacking proper qualifications as well.
When they are serving food outside the temperature safety zone, bacteria grows. There is no discussion on this fact.
If you end up with stomach cramps, diarrhea or throwing up, I would say that it is because this place served you food tainted with bacteria.
The manager never came to our table when we complained and because of the obvious issues with running this restaurant for consumer safely, they will be reported to the Dracut...
Read moreWe haven’t gone out to eat in a long time so I’m not sure what’s normal these days. Chose Owen and Ollie’s at the end of a long drive home.
First: There was a huge gross puddle in the bathroom and it was about 40° in there. It was like peeing in the wilderness.
We got seats right away, that was ok.
My kid wanted 8 chicken tenders so he could have some tomorrow and that was TWENTY DOLLARS!!! They were burnt. Then a tiny bowl of soggy broccoli was $6. And a small bowl of fries was also $6. Yes, my kids meal was $32.
The chicken on my salad was $7 and was maybe 1/2 a chicken breast, if that. It was tough and impossible to cut up with the butter knife I was given.
The check was $50.50 and I had to pay with $100 bill and the waitress brought back 2 $20’s and $9. So I wasn't able to even tip her 20% of the bill, I do try to tip 25%. Why would you not bring a pile of small bills back?? If she’s sad about her tip, it’s her fault.
I guess the salad was ok at $10 (before chicken) though it was pretty small, but the rest of their prices are highway robbery. There is no reason chicken fingers should be $2.50 each. None. They aren’t even that...
