B J's Garden Inn Cafe — Restaurant in Du Quoin

07/07/2024 First time trying BJ's Garden Inn Cafe. Had the Sunday lunch plate which is two pieces of fried chicken, white or dark meat, plus two sides. Pictured there are three side because I did not order the carrots. Our service was good, the waitress was great. The food was what I would call average. There wasn't anything bad or wrong with it, just not 5 stars. We both had the Coconut pie for dessert, it was amazing. Completely homemade down to the crust itself, which was very good. We had Sunday lunch plates(2), drinks(2) and both had pie for dessert and it was under $34.00. Definitely worth it. We are looking forward to trying breakfast there soon. This place is a small town, old time diner....

My last experience was a call in order for 2 - two piece fish dinners. The fish was soggy, I am guessing only dredged in flour as it had no taste. In the past, it was good, seasoned and crispy outside. The fries were "limp" this time and tasteless, plus,, there was no slaw which was suppose to be my second side. There was a cockroach crawling out of my desert dish. I killed it and took a picture of it and told the waitress and she showed the cockroach to the owner and I was told that it wasn't there bug. They stated they get sprayed 4 times a week. Now if you don't have a bug problem why would a restaurant get sprayed 4 times a week. 2-9-2020 this is...
